Kostas Tsimikas gets Liverpool players talking with new slick back look

When Liverpool signed him in 2020 from Olympiacos for £11.75m, Kostas Tsimikas would have known that he would not be getting a lot of minutes under manager Jurgen Klopp.

The Merseyside club have two high-quality full-backs in Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson who have dominated either flank for the team under Klopp and Tsimikas’ transfer was to provide cover for Robertson rather than perhaps challenge him for the position.

Since his transfer from Olympiacos, the Greek left-back has only made 12 appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League. But whenever he has been deployed on the left flank, he has offered more in attack for Liverpool being a left-back who enjoys bombing forward when he gets the chance. In his 12 appearances, Tsimikas has registered two assists for Liverpool and is yet to score for the club across all competitions.

With three years left on his Liverpool contract, Tsimikas has not stood out as an odd one in the squad and has formed a good relationship with the rest of the players, despite the lack of minutes.

It looks like Tsimikas had carried on with this positive attitude at Liverpool and the rest of the squad too have taken a note of it and have come to the left-back’s support.

Tsimikas took to Instagram on Sunday to unveil a new look. The player was seen sporting a new hairstyle, replacing his usual fringes with a slick-back look. This was combined with an all-black attire featuring a crisp suit, black-tinted sunglasses and a pair of peculiarly large shoes. Tsimikas is seen in the picture opening the door to his car which is also reflected in his choice of caption: “After you…!”

The post was flooded with comments, especially from Tsimikas’ Liverpool teammates such as James Milner, Alisson Becker, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota who all expressed their love for the new look and for the player himself.

While the majority of his teammates applauded the look using a variety of emoticons, goalkeeper Alisson focused on the strange pair of shoes, with a plain “nice shoes” comment. The pair he had on looks too big for the player but it looks to be a deliberate fashion statement much like Kalvin Phillips’ pair of shoes that he sported.

Liverpool fans have surely enjoyed seeing the squad chemistry out on display in public where the players put aside their differences in terms of minutes played this season. With a key week for Liverpool’s UCL and PL hopes coming up, Tsimikas would be hoping to go by his own words as he looks to help Liverpool fight for the quadruple this season.
