AS Roma to Introduce Shapeshifter Badge on 22/23 Third Kit

AS Roma fans now have two things to look forward to. First is the magnificent signing of Paulo Dybala and the second is a rumoured third kit which, if it came to fruition, would differ completely from anything on the market at the moment.

Jose Mourinho‘s arrival at the club has reignited the diminishing charisma of the club in European football. The Special one lifted the inaugural UEFA Conference League title in his first tenure in Rome but has promised much more to do justice to the splendid history of the club.

And Roma seems to reciprocate the same feeling with an off-beat jersey that is sure to turn some heads and compliment the cunningness of Mourinho.

The kit sponsors New Balance has cooked up a kit that has Black as its base colour and crisscrossed pink lines, giving it an edgier and sharper look. But the uniqueness comes from two logos submerged together over the left chest.

On closer inspection, one can see the club initials ‘ASR’ in a circular shape, but when you change the angle by moving the jersey back and forth, Roma’s official logo is visible. The New Balance logo is in White and the Right sleeve cuff features a pink stripe surrounded by two White lines.

One might have to shake up that memory branch to remember if such a feat in a kit has been accomplished before. However, there is no official announcement by the club on this third kit but it sure has started a buzz inviting mixed reactions from the fans.

A user posted that New Balance has tried this gimmick with the badge for the Turkish side, Konyaspor, but Roma’s kit looks much more nuanced and has elevated the level of design.

But few loyal fans were over the moon learning about the third kit. For them, it was a piece of art that should fall into their possession. There were special shoutouts to the badge which inherently seemed to be New Balance’s agenda of selling these kits as soon as possible.

It remains to be seen whether it is only a concept kit or an official one, but if this jersey sees the light of the day, someone will surely sweep it off shelves the day it goes live.
