Venezia have been a standout example when it comes to gorgeous football kits. Over the years, the newly-promoted Serie A club have donned some beautiful designs that blow other top European clubs out of the water. Now, they’ve donned another unique design that not many other clubs can think of.
Venezia’s contract agreement with shirt sponsors Kappa ended at the end of the 2023/24 season. They failed to renew that and have not yet been able to find any potential replacement as their shirt sponsors or designers. But that hasn’t stopped the club’s operations and they did something rather bold at the start of their pre-season campaign.
In a pre-season game against local Italian side Real Vicenza, Eusebio di Francesco’s side opted to wear a DIY (do it yourself) kit that has literally been designed by the club’s employees. The officials probably got something within the club to come up with the most basic design and had a local clothing manufacturing brand stitch up the kits for the players to wear in pre-season.
Because there isn’t really a lot of thinking added to this kit, it’s the most basic design imaginable. The kit worn by Venezia is simply a black t-shirt with their club crest prominent featuring in the middle colored in a mix of yellow, green and red.
There are thin designs of red and green in the shirt sleeves to ensure that the kit isn’t a totally black one with nothing else than the club logo. To pair this up, Venezia opted for their players to wear black shorts and matching socks which also had their club logo featuring in it.
The goalkeeper kit has been designed in an all light red shade to make them look different than the outfield players. The logo’s color in the goalkeeper’s kit is same as the normal kit and it’s clear that very little effort was put in to quickly make up these kits just in time for the pre-season fixtures.
Despite the basic design, the Venezia 2024 pre-season kit has turned out to be a hit among fans. A lot of supporters have been attracted to the simplicity of the gorgeous black attire, with the beautiful club crest gaining a prominent place in it. Some are claiming this to be better than some of the innovative kits released by Kappa for Venezia and calling for the club to officially release this kit.
Vincenza are reportedly on the verge of securing an interesting new shirt sponsors. They are rumoured to be close to agreeing a deal with the Nike Nocta sub-brand, which has been fronted and advertized by American rapper Drake. The Nocta logo is not exactly just the Nike swoosh one, but also features the name ‘Nocta’ along with three patterns above it.
It’s still not confirmed whether there will be only a ‘swoosh’ logo or the entire Nocta logo for the Venezia kits going forward as this deal is yet to be confirmed. But the tie-up with the American brand can definitely help the Italian club get a more global appeal and get recognized in markets outside Italy too.
But because of the positive response on their unique 2024 pre-season kit, it remains to be seen whether Venezia actually decide to launch this kit as a special edition wear. If they do, going by how well-designed it is, the attire could sell like hot cakes amongst their own faithful and fans from all over the globe.
