Knock! Knock! FPL Managers, Alex Iwobi Says Hi!

Alex Iwobi, FPL Midfielders

Doubling up … No, no! Wait … Yeah! Tripling up on the Fulham assets may be the way forward in FPL.

We already had Gimenez among the best budget forwards and Robinson amidst the best defenders to own now. Now Alex Iwobi also wants to join the party.

Fulham lost against West Ham United last night, with Potter boarding the Hammers driving seat for the first time. We need to wait to check if Potter manages to salvage their season and if the West Ham assets really pay enough dividends in FPL.

However, Alex Iwobi has become one of the major talking points of the ongoing GW21. He hit the 100-pt mark in Fantasy Premier League 2024-25 as he went all guns blazing against the Hammers to return with a brace and 15pts.

But Alex Iwobi scores points in FPL on his own terms. Either he scores big or he doesn’t. Iwobi smashed a fifteen-point haul in gameweek 15 against Brighton. What followed next was a six gameweek long wait, as he continued to blank. But then again another 15-pointer in GW21, to bring the curtains down to a bad patch.

Iwobi has seven goals and three assists next to his name and currently sits on the fifth place in the category of highest-scoring midfielders in FPL with 102pts. Only Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, and Saka are above him. And apart from Saka, who is on the sidelines nursing an injury, all are template picks.

This indeed speaks volumes about Iwobi’s breakout season. The Fulham winger had a great run in between gameweek nine and fourteen, a period when he outclassed his opponents while registering 45pts in six outings.

Iwobi costs less than £6m(£5.9m) and a smart differential for you with just 7.6% of owners picking him in FPL while the GW21 takes place. Feel free to rope him in before he breaks into the template.

Interestingly, his teammate Smith Rowe who has now blanked for ten games on the trot, has a greater ownership than Iwobi. In the opening gameweeks, the former Arsenal midfielder emerged as a solid pick and I too had him in my team for a considerable period. But he has now embarked on a downward slope and not even a nailed-on starter anymore.

With Palace, Leicester, and Wolves in the next six, Iwobi is going to offer counter-punches in the upcoming gameweeks.
