Martin Odegaard Punched Me: Erling Haaland Jokes After Freak Injury on International Duty

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland, the prolific Manchester City and Norway striker recently suffered a bizarre injury and it has nothing to do with his antics on the pitch. He recently encountered an unexpected and unyielding opponent: a bus door. Yes you read that right a bus door.

The incident, which has become a widely discussed and even jocular topic, occurred as the Norway squad was arriving at their hotel in Oslo. As Haaland was disembarking the team bus and was positioned near the luggage compartment, the heavy trunk door unexpectedly swung open, connecting with his face.

The impact caused a nasty cut to his lip, which began to bleed. He was quickly attended to by the Norway team doctor and security advisor, who ensured he received prompt medical attention.

The final count was three stitches for a wound that, according to Norway coach Stale Solbakken, could have been worse. Haaland himself, ever the good sport and master of self deprecating humor, took to his infamous Snapchat account to share a selfie of his scar, complete with the caption, “Just got banged out by a bus door 3 stitches. Looks actually quite good”

Haaland even responded to a fan’s lighthearted jab on Snapchat, playfully suggesting his teammate and Gunners skipper Martin Ødegaard had “punched him” and was responsible for the incident.

While the injury is not expected to sideline the prolific striker, it serves as a humorous and somewhat humbling reminder that even the most formidable athletes can be caught off guard by the most mundane of objects. Haaland is expected to be fit for Norway’s upcoming match against Moldova and for Manchester City’s highly anticipated Manchester derby at the Etihad on Sunday.
