Supporting your favorite football club is an otherworldly experience unlike any other. But sometimes loyalty and fandom come at a cost.
This was especially the case with Norwich City supporters who found it out the hard way with the “shiny” 2025-26 Membership kit gaffe.
If the on-field performances weren’t bad enough, the club is also giving its supporters reasons for disappointment outside the pitch. A club that was once a Premier League regular has been relegated to the Championship and is languishing in 23rd with just 8 points from 12 games this season.
With just 1 win in 11 games, the last thing Norwich supporters needed was more disappointment even on non-matchdays. But Norwich City’s Premium Membership holders were in for another dose of disappointment.
Norwich City’s Platinum Membership (the highest tier of fan membership package) comes with a special edition 2025-26 Membership jersey from popular football kit manufacturers Joma, and those jerseys have finally been delivered.
However, fans who opted for Platinum Membership were left stunned as their special edition jerseys arrived, and the jerseys looked much different from the photos released by the club.
The renders released by the club displayed the jersey in all its glory, having a sleek and stylish whiteish light-grey design. However, once the actual jerseys arrived, they couldn’t have been any more different from the 3D renders.
The special edition jersey is so shiny and metallic that it would put the Silver Surfer to shame. Some were even left pondering with its silver finish whether the jersey was made by melting aluminum foil. To make matters worse, Norwich City’s primary sponsor is Blakely, a clothing brand.
Aside from the ridiculous choice of color, the kit looks pretty neat with the club’s crest in the centre, a green collar with a V neck, and a band of green and yellow on the sleeve.
The fan reactions range from possible bad photography angle to intentional false advertising to “That is the only silverware we’re experiencing this season”. Some were even in disbelief whether this was a genuine jersey or a prank.
An X user by the handle Edwood Davies was in full Halloween spirit as he claimed, “Just in time for Halloween if you’re dressing up as the tinman”.
