Florian Wirtz had the world at his feet at Bayer Leverkusen. He was the main man at Bayer, spearheading their undefeated campaign, racking up all sorts of trophies and personal accolades, and even forcing Germany to change their formation to accommodate a player who was on top of the world.
However, since his £116 million transfer to Liverpool, Wirtz has transformed into a £1.6 million player. The German has been extremely poor, breaking all sorts of negative records and having no impact on the team whatsoever.
His own fanbase is being forced to find ways to cope and find reasons to find positives in his performances, as he has delivered 0 goals and 0 assists in his 11 Prem appearances.
Congratulations to you. Yes, you reading this tweet.

Marcel Desailly, the retired French great, is going viral on X (formerly Twitter) for his reactions to a “World Class or Not” challenge, especially his thoughts on Florian Wirtz.
In the clip, Desaily is given a number of players and asked to give his opinion on whether the player in question is world class or not.
The challenge starts with Bruno Fernandes, to which the former Chelsea man says, “Not world class”.
Next up is Phil Foden, for whom he says “World Class”.
After that is the new Liverpool signing, Alexander Isak, and Desailly says, “Not world class”.
Then come Arsenal’s Declan Rice and Gyokeres, whom he states are World Class and Not World Class respectively.
When asked about Florian Wirtz, Desailly just flips out and, in a mocking tone, shouts “NOT AT ALL (world class)”.
Wait for his Florian Wirtz opinion… 😬

Marcel Desailly plays 'World Class or Not' with Premier League stars.
Do you agree with his shouts? pic.twitter.com/nbfHwQqSea
The clip has been trending on X, and people haven’t stopped talking about it since the video first started gaining traction.
It has certainly left a large part of FT speechless because a former player mocking a player like that is crazy, but the player hasn’t done anything to help his case either.
The level of mockery is to be expected, given how awful Wirtz has been for something with such a massive price tag. The weekend’s blockbuster clash against Manchester City was the most recent example of how bad Wirtz has been this season.

He was ineffective throughout the game, unable to create anything for his teammates, and his wayward passes were getting clipped and mocked.
New signings like Wirtz, Isak, Ekitike, and Frimpong have all failed to make a mark for Liverpool, which explains why the current champions are already 8 points behind table toppers Arsenal.
With the international breaks taking place over the next two weeks, Wirtz will have to wait at least until November 22nd to open his account on the 12th attempt when Liverpool hosts struggling Nottingham Forest.
So what do you think about Wirtz – is he world class or not? Let us know in the comments section.
