Marc Cucurella Cat Meme: Everything You Need To Know About Caturella

2026 FIFA World Cup, Football Memes, Marc Cucurella, Real Madrid, Spain National Football Team

As Spain’s first-choice left back, Marc Cucurella has enjoyed an impressive World Cup so far.

Running up and down the left flank all game to contribute in both defense and attack, the 27-year-old has helped La Roja keep clean sheets in both their group stage games so far, while also creating several chances for the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal, Alex Baena and Lamine Yamal with pinpoint crosses.

While much can be said about Cucurella’s dominant displays on the pitch, a social media trend involving the left-back has become all the rage of late because of his long, curly hair that extend to his shoulders.

Soon after Spain’s win over Saudi Arabia on Sunday, users on social media began comparing Marc Cucurella’s uncanny likeness with a cat sporting a curly-haired wig.

One user posted an image of the “Cucurella cat” celebrating Spain’s win in the stadium. Though the image could be made via AI as bringing cats to the stadium might not be allowed but that did not stop the post from going viral, accumulating over 33,000 likes.

A fan posted an image of the viral cat sporting a Real Madrid shirt, a nod to Cucurella’s recent €55 million move from Chelsea to Los Blancos, which was confirmed just before the World Cup began. Another gave the viral meme a name, calling it “Caturella”.

A supporter took things a step further, offering their own spin on things by sharing a picture of a dog sporting a Spanish flag and a Cucurella-style hairdo.

While fans will continue having fun with this on social media, Marc Cucurella and the Spanish team will be fully focused on the challenges that lie ahead.

With all due respect to the likes of Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia, the reigning European champions are now preparing their toughest challenge of the tournament so far, as they take on South American giants Uruguay in their final group stage game on Friday.

Looking to secure top spot in Group H to guarantee the most favourable route in the knockout stages, Spain can potentially finish first even with a draw on Friday.

However, Uruguay will be desperate for a win, having drawn their first two games after a series of underwhelming performances. This arguably makes them an even more dangerous opponent.

If they finish first in their group as projected, that could set up a Round of 32 clash against Austria, who are the predicted runners up of Group J.
