With Saudi Arabia gaining much traction after Cristiano Ronaldo and the entourage that followed, it has grown significantly in the last few years with footballers like Sadio Mane, Joao Felix etc joining the Saudi Pro League.

After Spanish international Esther Gonzalez‘s arrival, it seems like Saudi Arabia is successful in attracting players of both genders, however, at what cost is what fans have in their mind.

Esther Gonzalez, a Spanish football star has successfully made her move to Saudi Women’s Premier League outfit Al Qadsiah.

The move came shortly after Esther announced her hiatus from football not too long ago, with fans speculating it was due to shifting her focus from football to her family, inclusive of her wife and her newborn son.

The sudden move to Saudi Arabia after announcing her departure from football and her exit from NWSL side Gotham FC, is what made this situation all the more suspicious to fans, questioning her intentions.

Considering the fact that Esther is openly lesbian and also has a son with her wife, made fans question her move to Saudi League, whether it was for promoting football in further east or was the deal lucrative enough for her to not deny the move?

Fans are questioning Esther’s intentions, especially after she deleted all the posts of her child and wife from her instagram, shortly after the announcement, whether she has sold her morals and life for a comfortable footballing career and life in Saudi, keeping in mind the situation there regarding the treatment of people who belong to the LGBTQ+ community.

However, a good chunk of footballing community defended Esther’s actions online, claiming how Saudi Arabia was not a regime from hell and people from the LGBTQ+ community are living a comfortable life there.

Fans claimed how being a part of the community itself wasn’t wrong in any way and people could live however they wanted.

People say such rules will also apply to Esther and she could continue being a footballer comfortably with her family.

With much debate online, Esther remains unfazed and continues her footballing career with much pride and skills.
