Calvin Bassey Freaks Out After Finding His FIFA 23 Rating

With FIFA 23 set to be released across all platforms next months, everyone is hotly anticipating seeing the latest version of EA Sports’ famous gaming series.

However, it’s not just the fans, but the football players also who are waiting for the game.

Most footballers are eager to see their ratings and the attributes on their FIFA cards.

Usually, most football players are left annoyed by their FIFA ratings – believing that they deserve better attributes.

However, not many will have the reaction that Ajax defender Calvin Bassey recently had upon seeing his card.

The 22-year-old joined the Eredivisie side from Rangers in the summer, basically as a replacement for Lisandro Martinez.

Bassey is a fun-loving, emotional person off the pitch and that showed in Ajax’s unveiling of their player cards.

The video of an unveiling of the FIFA 23 ratings for Ajax players was released on their Youtube channel, featuring reactions from players Steven Bergwijn, Jurrien Timber, Calvin Bassey and Brian Brobbey.

Timber’s overall rating of 80 – giving him the gold card – annoyed Bassey – who believed he deserves a higher ranking. He said: “FIFA is disrespecting my boy, I need more FIFA.”

Immediately after that, the Nigerian centre-back’s own card came up.

Just as it came in, Bassey could be heard saying: ‘If I see silver bro…’, to his teammates.

As it turns out, a silver card (given to players rated between 65-74) was brought up to them with Bassey’s name.

The centre-back lost his mind as he bellowed out: ‘You see what I mean? Bro, this is just disrespectful. FIFA is a joke man, I told you.”

His teammates, on the other hand, could not hold their laughter at the entire situation.

Bassey has been rated at 74 in FIFA 23, with a pace of 83 and physicality of 86 as his highest attributes.

The 22-year-old probably has reason to be annoyed at his rating after enjoying a good season with the Rangers last time.

He helped them win the Scottish Cup and reach the Europa League finals, where they lost to Eintracht Frankfurt.

He made 50 appearances for Rangers last season, helping them keep 20 clean sheets in those outings.

Perhaps if he had played for a European giant, then those numbers would’ve warranted him a gold card.

But hey! At least he can be thankful not to have gotten a bronze card – given to those rated lower than 64.
