Top Midfield Picks to Replace Saka in FPL – From Kudus to Cunha and Anderson

Fantasy Premier League

The news of Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury has created lot of confusion and disarray for managers, with him set to be out for 3-4 weeks and likely to be back by Newcastle in GW5.

He will reportedly be back when the Arsenal fixtures turn and could be a great asset then, however for these coming weeks you can’t have a £10.0m player on your bench so here are some midfielders to consider depending on your team value/ future plans to bring Haaland in.

Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham have one of the best upcoming fixtures facing a weary West Ham, Wolves at home and Leeds away. Kudus has been a great signing for the North London side and looks to be another Bryan Mbeumo esque player under manager Thomas Frank. Kudus also had 5 Touches in the Opposition Box and created 6 chances in just 2 matches. At £6.6m he seems like a great pick.

Antoine Semenyo

The highest scoring midfielder so far this season. Many managers had written off Bournemouth this season after many key players departed this season, Andoni Iraola has however kept his ship steady and with the signings of Amine Adli from Leverkusen and Ben Doak, their attack still looks great. One of the best value that Semenyo provides is his shot volume, already having 7 shots in 2 appearances, he is always looking to find the back of the net.

Matheus Cunha

Cunha has so far blanked in both matches but the stats do not paint the entire picture, he has been the best player for Manchester United. He even had his shot hit the post against Fulham last weekend. It is not a matter of if but when for Cunha. Amorim will also likely start Sesko against Burnley further enhancing his chances of getting a goal/assist. We have seen his linkup with Strand Larsen at Wolves and now with Sesko could this be a start of a great partnership at Manchester United. Managers also seem to like him with his price rising to £8.1m last night.

Elliot Anderson

This is a cheap midfielder option at £5.5m, if you are planning on upgrading say Watkins to Haaland. Anderson is a nailed starter even with the signing of Douglas Luiz who will most likely replace Sangare instead of Anderson. He has been unlucky with Defcon, finishing on 11 contributions in both games just one away from reaching the 12 point threshold and would have seen him earn 4 extra points. He is on set pieces and corners and has great fixtures on the horizon.
