At just 18 years old, Lamine Yamal is already shaping into one of world football’s most electrifying young talents. Following a breakout 2024/25 period where he tallied 9 goals and 13 assists in La Liga, the Barcelona winger entered the 2025/26 season with expectations rarely seen for a teenager. Despite the weight, he’s managed it superbly— registering 2 goals and 4 assists already, while displaying a growing tactical maturity and composure beyond his years.
But as with most modern footballers, Yamal’s tale isn’t confined to the pitch. His alleged relationship with Argentine vocalist Nicki Nicole came into limelight, albeit as a rumour, in July 2025, when she was spotted during Yamal’s controversial birthday party. After public appearances and shared social media moments, it has become one of football’s most discussed side stories. The whispers turned louder when supporters spotted her in a Barça jersey during the Joan Gamper Trophy, where Barcelona were playing against Como 1907, on August 10th, 2025, at the Estadi Johan Cryuff. The game ended in a 5-0 victory for Barcelona, but the spotlight was taken by someone else.
This rumour now seems to be confirmed or if not, the truth seems to overshadow the rumour at least, when Nicki reposted a picture, on her Instagram stories, which was initially posted by Yamal, where both can be seen in what looks like Nicki’s 25th birthday.
This week though, a viral meme from Breaking Bad, humorously, is doing rounds on the relationship—captioned: “Lamine since he started dating Nicki Nicole..” The image featured a scene where Jesse Pinkman and Jane Margolis prepare to inject narcotics together—a symbolic exaggeration hinting that Yamal, like Jesse, is being “influenced” or “changed” since he started to date Nicki. It’s a typical football Twitter satire—dark comedy blending pop culture with football humour.
Before Jane came into his life, Jesse Pinkman was already selling drugs on a small basis. He was reckless, immature, and emotionally unstable, but he wasn’t completely lost. He had flashes of empathy and guilt — especially when people got wounded owing to the drug trade. Jesse didn’t take a lot of hard drugs at that time, even though he made bad decisions in his life. He largely sold them. He was a little lost, trying to find solace and approval after being turned down by his family and humiliated by his old teachers (like Walter White).
Jesse’s life changed a lot emotionally and morally when he met Jane. Jane, his landlord and later girlfriend, was a recovering addict who tried to stay sober at first. But their friendship immediately became strong and depended on each other. Jane gives Jesse heroin again in one of the most important scenes of the show. This is the drug scene being referred to in the meme.
Where Jesse sank deeper into trouble, Yamal seems to be accomplishing the opposite — illustrating that influence doesn’t have to imply downfall, necessarily. The meme simply joked that he was being “led astray” after dating Nicki Nicole, imitating the way Jane “changed” Jesse.

This comes after Yamal reportedly gave an interview bashing out at Real Madrid and about their antics over the years, last week. He also failed to be on the scoresheet on Sunday, in the El Clasico, and they (Barcelona) also lost against their bitter and arch rivals 2-1, which added more fuel to the fire. He also had a verbal spat with his own compatriot and the Real Madrid right back, Dani Carvajal, after the game.
As the season develops, whether his relationship continues to dominate social media or fades into privacy, one thing tends to be clear—Lamine Yamal is developing swiftly, juggling celebrity, attention, and sporting prowess with grace. For now, the jokes may trend, but the football tells a different story—one of hunger and the rise of a generational talent.
