Football Twitter is a wonderful place. You get everything from hilarious memes to fail comps from haters to endless propaganda from player FC to all the news and information about the trending topics.
However, in an interesting turn of events, Football Twitter just ended up landing two football fans jobs from a top-tier club in Serie A.
Yes, you read that right. Two X (formerly Twitter) users who used to tweet out their takes and opinions have been officially hired by Como 1907 in Serie A.

Felix Johnson, who is a Chelsea fan, and Ben Mattinson, who is an Arsenal fan, have officially joined and started working behind the scenes as first-team scouts.
Meanwhile, Ben Mattinson became popular for his threads and analysis of youth players. It became a bit as his threads and tweets got reposted years later when a player he previously praised broke out, as fans would sa,y “There’s always a Ben Mattinson tweet”.
You never know when your work is being seen or when you’ll see the fruits of your labour.

Focus on improving the quality of your content and being consistent; the rest will come. https://t.co/MwQoBYDQSE pic.twitter.com/geZ7YQ1yUA
Bem Mattinson already has a proven record of spotting talent early on, which makes him a great asset for Como. Football fans on Football Twitter showered a lot of praise and support for Ben.
Been following Ben’s journey for a while, massive respect for the consistency and passion he’s shown. His story has been a big inspiration for me to start posting about young talents and scouting-related content, and it gives me even more encouragement in my own journey. Huge congratulations on going pro with @Como_1907, fully deserved!
Folks who were following his account for a while were thrilled to see his hard work pay off.
Absolutely made up for Ben, the quality of his work is superb and has been a go to account for me and many others. He will bring an excellent knowledge of world football to the table. Doesn’t play the football twitter tactico game likes others, just works hard and it’s paid off.
Felix Johnson, on the other hand, already had a huge following on football Twitter after he spent years working hard to bring the insider stuff and behind-the-scenes stuff from his sources. Moreover, he also reported on youth football and keeping fans up to date on the bright prospects balling for Chelsea’s academy teams.
With a wide network and knowledge on every football level so vast, Felix is also expected to be a great get for Como.
Went from debating Football Twitter trolls on Twitter to debating Fabregas and Mirwan Suwarso in Como. Hats off, Felix!
Although some fans were quick to point out his takes that were proven wrong, the majority were happy for him and showed him a lot of support.
Second person from Twitter to end up at Como. If you’ve got takes, put them out there, never know who is watching.
As incredible as this story has been, the two have received nothing but love and support from the FT community. Footy fans, regardless of the clubs they support, are happy to see two of their own get the recognition and be hired to be football scouts.
Ironically, the current manager of Como, Cesc Fabregas, has a connection with both of their clubs.
He broke out at Arsenal (Ben’s club) as a teenager, becoming the club captain and talisman at the age of 19, and spent 8 incredible years before joining FC Barcelona. He left Barcelona after 3 great years and joined Chelsea (Felix’s club), winning the Premier League with the Blues.

Fabregas became the Como manager in 2024 and, in his first season, guided them to a Top-10 finish, which is quite incredible for a newly promoted club. Currently 7th in Serie A, Como is just 1 point away from the European places. As things stand, Como look set to match last season’s fairytale with a mid-table finish, if not better it with European qualification.
The Spanish legend is widely seen as one of the most exciting managers who will lead the next crop of masterminds for years to come. Not only are his tactics incredible, but he is also very versatile, has an exciting style of play, and is known to be a great man-manager.
With a project this exciting, Felix and Ben may have just landed a job of a lifetime. What do you think of a football club hiring someone from Twitter? Let us know in the comments section.
