Pep Guardiola Loses His Cool at Cameraman, Dugout Seat and Joelinton On the Same Day

Manchester City, Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola isn’t just one of the most prolific managers in history, but he is also extremely hot-headed and has his moments of headloss when things don’t go his way. That was on display against Newcastle as he was at his animated worst, throwing tantrums and lashing out at everyone, from the opposition players to his seat to even the cameraman.

Pep had a night to forget at St. James’ Park as his Manchester City side lost ground on Arsenal in the Premier League title race. Already 4 points behind Arsenal, Manchester City travelled to Newcastle United hoping to keep pace with the table toppers, but after a frustrating 90 minutes where the ball wouldn’t go in the net despite 17 attempts, City ended up losing 2-1.

Newcastle took the lead through Harvey Barnes in the 63rd minute before Ruben Dias equalized after 5 minutes. 2 minutes later, Newcastle led again thanks to Barnes bundling the ball into the goal after a huge melee in the Man City box.

In a heated game that was marred by a lot of fiery moments, incredible goalkeeping, poor finishing, and a plethora of missed opportunities, Pep lost his cool and let his frustration get the better of him on multiple instances.

After Barnes made it 2-1, Pep was seen repeatedly punching his seat in what can be called “mild” when compared to what was to come later on. Pep is renowned for his temper tantrums, be it his seat or water bottles, nothing is spared from his moments of rage.

After the full-time whistle, both sets of players shared some heated words, with Joelinton being dragged away by his teammates after he got into an argument with Pep Guardiola.

During the same scuffle, Bruno Guimaraes was in the middle of an argument, and the Blues manager took it upon himself to remonstrate with the Newcastle captain. This isn’t the first time Pep has publicly remonstrated with an opposition player, but Bruno stood his ground and gave it back to Pep.

Once the arguments, gesturing, and shouting were over, Bruno ran over to the crowd and started fist-pumping the crowd and conducting the orchestra.

The camera operator who captured the entire interaction with Bruno Guimaraes then had to face Pep’s ire.

took an issue with the cameraman and let him know his feelings by directing his anger at him, pushing away the camera, and even removing the operator’s headphones to talk directly into his ear.

Pep wasn’t giving anything away when he was asked about the incident in the interview as he stated:

“No questions, everything is fine. I said how good he [Bruno] is [but that conversation] is for private situations. Everything is fine.”
