One could say that Barcelona are having a very abnormal season. Their domestic form has been great making them sit on the top of the La Liga table, but the same can’t be said for the Champions League.
After a gut-wrenching 3-0 defeat against Chelsea earlier during the week, it saw them move down to 18th in the 2025 Champions League standings after 5 games. They have also already conceded 10 goals.
For context, Barcelona had conceded only 13 goals in the 8 games of group stage last season.
Last weekend, Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao which saw them comfortably win the game 4-0. Ferran Torres scored a brace, whereas Robert Lewandowski and Fermin Lopez also chipped in on the scoresheet alongside Ferran.
But the game wasn’t just about the scoreline or the goalscorers. It was also about someone who wasn’t on the scoresheet, but was well in the peripheral vision of the fans in the stadium and across the world.
During the game, Lamine Yamal happened to be adjusting his shorts in the middle of nowhere, when he was taking on his defender.
This hilariously viral but swaggering moment quickly caught the attention of football fans on Football Twitter and they couldn’t stop laughing.

The clip, which went viral on social media shows the 18-year-old winger dribbling past Bilbao’s Alex Berenguer. But as he accelerates, his shorts start to make him uncomfortable.
Yamal calmly reaches down mid-stride, lowers them and effortlessly resumes his dribbling as if nothing happened. The whole scenario unfolds in a matter of 10 seconds, however it’s the sheer boldness of altering his shorts in the middle of his dribbling which makes it meme worthy.
For all these funny antics though, he did finish the game against Bilbao with 2 assists.
As the La Liga heats up for this season, we can be sure of seeing Yamal’s magic.
