Full List of Former Tottenham Players Fans Chanted for Against Brentford Including Soldado and Lennon

Football Chants, Premier League, Thomas Frank, Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham may just be the biggest pretenders of the 2025-26 season.

After winning the Europa League, hiring Thomas Frank, one of the most exciting managers in the league, and signing tremendous talents like Kudus and Xavi Simons, fans were expecting the Lilywhites to push on and compete for the Top-4 while playing exciting football.

However, Tottenham have delivered on none of those expectations as neither their position nor their playing style has improved.

This was evident in the recent match as Spurs traveled to Thomas Frank’s old hunting ground, Brentford, and delivered one of the most painfully dire displays this season.

The match ended in a 0-0 draw, with goal-scoring opportunities few and far between. Despite Spurs having an impressive attack, Caoimhin Kelleher was untroubled by Tottenham’s toothless finishing as none of the teams managed to touch the 1.0 xG mark.

However, Tottenham fans weren’t going to let the away trip go to waste as they were able to entertain themselves with chants and songs… but of former players.

It was incredible scenes at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, just 6 miles from London, as Tottenham fans got frustrated with the lack of action on the pitch and started chants for former players like Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, and Aaron Lennon.

We’ve got Alli, Dele Alli, I just don’t think you understand, He only cost five mill, He’s better than Ozil, We’ve got Dele Alli.

One Aaron Lennon, there’s only one Aaron Lennon, One Aaron Lennon, there’s only one Aaron Lennon!

Eriksen, sen, sen, he’s our number 23. Eriksen, sen, sen, came to play for AVB. To the left, to the right, he’s our midfield dynamite.

There were also chants for the likes of Jermain Defoe, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Moussa Dembele, Martin Jol, Ledley King, and Eric Dier. Heck, even Spurs flop Roberto Soldado got a mention.

Among the current players, only Brennan Johnson, who has been marginalized by Frank and is expected to leave the club, got his “Johnson, Ole Ole” chant.

“Johnson again, ole, ole. Johnson again, ole, ole. Johnson again, Johnson again, Johnson again, ole, ole”

To make matters worse, all this happened in the first half itself, while the second half saw Spurs fans chanting “We want our money back!” and “Boring, boring Tottenham!”

Interestingly, there was no chant for Ange Postecoglou, the man who ended Tottenham’s voodoo and helped the club win their first trophy since 2008 before getting sacked unceremoniously, much to the dismay of Tottenham’s faithful.

Thomas Frank’s Spurs are the antithesis of Ange’s ultra-attacking side. The current Spurs rank as one of the worst attacking sides in the league, with the fewest shots taken (73) as well as the lowest shots on target (21) in the first half of the matches.

The angry Tottenham fans let their frustration be known with the new manager as he got drowned with boos at the full-time whistle.

When speaking to the press during the post-match interview, he was asked about the reaction and whether the fans should be more understanding. Frank had this to say:

“That question is very difficult for me to answer. We are going off a few boos after the game and I’m not reading anything on social media or articles.”

Tottenham currently sit 12th in the table with just 26 points from 19 games. While this is better than the 17th-place finish last season, fans were expecting much more from Thomas Frank when he got hired.

Spurs will need a major turnaround if they are to contest for the Champions League spots, which is already 7 points away.
