Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior‘s touchline blunder has Arsenal fans declaring it the highlight of their Carabao Cup semi-final win – perhaps even better than reaching the final.
Since taking over at Stamford Bridge in January, Rosenior has become an internet sensation, with fans comparing him to David Brent from The Office for his press conference quotes, including the time when he broke down the word “manage” into “man-age” – the aging of men. His glasses and mannerisms have also drawn comparisons to Will from The Inbetweeners, and Tuesday night at the Emirates added another entry to the collection.
At the 87th-minute of the game we see Rosenior attempt to control a loose ball at the touchline. Hands in pockets, eyes tracking the ball, he took a casual touch that ricocheted off his foot, bounced into the dugout, and rebounded back onto the pitch. The Emirates erupted – but not for Arsenal’s anticipated victory, for the opposition manager’s humiliating attempt at controlling the ball.
It's the way he looks at his own bench, and they are laughing at him that gets me. You can see he was actually hurt by it 😂 pic.twitter.com/Xut0ewgr85

What started as a lighthearted moment turned dark when the camera panned to his own players and staff.
Assistant coach Kalifa Cisse couldn’t hide his laughter, but it was Jorrel Hato’s expression that captured what everyone seemed to be thinking.

The footage lingers on Rosenior’s face cycling through humiliation, discomfort, and forced indifference as the crowd’s jeers washed over him.
When your own squad fails at maintaining a professional facade at your technical errors, the uphill battle for someone like Rosenior becomes steeper.
Social media has been relentless and merciless, questioning how someone with his playing and managerial record – particularly with his struggles at Hull City – ended up at Stamford Bridge.

On a night where Chelsea lacked clinical finishing, their manager’s equally poor touch on the touchline provided the perfect metaphor for Chelsea’s exit from this season.
