Erling Haaland is a freak of nature. A rare breed of athlete who is redefining the ceiling of strikers. His acrobatic finishes, physicality and the consistency to deliver abnormal performances is a dream for any footballer.

Even the numbers he puts up each season is far away from calling him ordinary. He has already netted 29 times in 34 games for the Citizens this season.

His performances have made him a constant fixture in football discourse, both on and off the pitch.

Earlier, when Manchester City and Liverpool faced each other last week, Haaland and Szoboszlai were subjected to be the current bearers of football Yaoi, a term from the Japanese media folklore, that focuses on romantic relationship between male characters.

Haaland as usual scored a goal in Machester City‘s recent 3-0 victory against Fulham. Assisted by his new playmaking provider and close friend, Phil Foden, Haaland actually took his bromance with the Englishman to next level.

During the goal celebrations, Haaland kissed Foden on the cheeks, symbolising the casualty of their friendship.

But the incident was out of anybody’s expectations and had started a wave of reactions.

Foden and Haaland have shared a great bond since the Norwegian arrival in 2022. During his early days, it was Foden who had helped him settle in a new country. Moreover they are of the same age and get along on the same page very easily

These consecutive incidents had raised strong suggestions that Haaland might be the chosen guy to forefront the culture of Football Yaoi.

Fans have managed to connect the big Norwegian to a number of other players who would make for a perfect yaoi couples in football.

Jude Bellingham and Dominik Szoboszlai find themselves attached to Haaland because of their Dortmund and Salzburg connection respectively.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in the mix because he is friends with both Jude and Dom.

Add Foden and Jack Grealish’s bromance with Erling Haaland and we have Football Yaoi universe in the making.
