Twitter Reacts to Salah and Kerkez’s Unexpected Ramadan Bond

Liverpool, Milos Kerkez, Mohamed Salah

Liverpool’s 2025/26 season has been a bit of a rollercoaster.

They are sitting sixth in the Premier League table with 45 points, a huge 16 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Recent results have been a mixed bag, including a 3-2 loss at Bournemouth and a home defeat to Manchester City in February.

Back-to-back 1-0 away wins at Sunderland and Nottingham Forest have steadied the ship a bit, but the title race is long gone..

And then there is the Salah situation. For the first time in his entire career, Mohamed Salah has gone nine straight Premier League matches without scoring a goal.

Fans have been concerned, and the pressure is quietly building around one of the club’s most important players.

So it is actually pretty fitting that the story lifting Liverpool supporters’ spirits this week has nothing to do with goals at all but an unexpected friendship involving Salah and their left-back Milos Kerkez.

Kerkez posted on his Instagram story that he was fasting for the first time ever during Ramadan, captioning it “My first day of Ramadan” with a humorous emoji.

Salah then reshared the post, celebrating his teammate’s participation in the holy month.

Ramadan started around February 18 in the UK this year, so this all kicked off basically a week ago. And fans absolutely lost it in the best possible way.

The duo shared more stories featuring the other on their Instagram last night and fans are fully onboard this new development –

At Liverpool, Salah, Ibrahima Konaté, and Hugo Ekitike are all observing the Ramadan fast this season. But Kerkez is not Muslim. He just wanted to share the experience with his teammate, and that is genuinely touching.

Liverpool fans have had a lot to stress about this season. The title race is basically gone. But this little story between two guys sharing a meal at sunset has genuinely made people happy this week. Sometimes that is more than enough.
