IShowSpeed Receives Top FIFA Honor While Wearing Flip-Flops

2026 FIFA World Cup, Football YouTubers, Ishowspeed

FIFA made numerous attempts to create a World Cup anthem, yet no sound could dance with the fans like IShowSpeed’s song.

But was Speed always such a big part of football culture? IShowSpeed AKA Darren Watkins Jr started streaming in 2017 but gained traction in 2021 after one of his streams went viral. Since then, speed has openly displayed his fandom for Cristiano Ronaldo and taken tours around countries streaming.

He has made numerous feats by beating countless people in sprinting showcasing his “Speed” and attracting Cristiano Ronaldo’s attention towards him who met him and also helped him play the victory drums of Al Nassr after beating Al Fateh 5-1.

Having 54.9 M subscribers is no small victory and Speed is rightly using the platform to spread his love about Football around the world.

Ahead of the World Cup, Speed was invited to FIFA’s Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland to be bestowed upon the first FIFA Fan ID by FIFA President Gianni Infantino. It was a huge moment for Speed; however, there was one detail that caught the eyes of fans.

While Speed went about his usual, greeting the President, roaming around the facility, fans noticed Speed wearing flip-flops throughout the entire segment.

Fans appreciated how instead of flexing his wealth by wearing expensive sneakers, he wore flip flops which made him look grounded.

Fans were pleased with how Speed, without any involvement of FIFA, created a hit World Cup song which proved to FIFA that fans do not want famous singers singing the same slop every year and instead should capture the World Cup fever, similar to how Speed did.

Since Speed has done numerous streams around the world especially in countries who hold a special place for Football, Speed understood the assignment by showing the culture and the hype at the grassroot level to show how the World Cup event still belongs to the people.
