Lionel Messi has always been regarded as a one-club man. Having been part of FC Barcelona since 2001, one can hardly question his loyalty.
A little known fact about Messi along the same lines, he has known his wife since the age of five! Growing up, Messi was good friends with Antonella Rocuzzo’s cousin Lucas Scaglia. Lucas and Messi met each other at the Newell’s Old Boys youth academy.
Messi would often go to the house of Lucas and Antonella, who were practically brother and sister and lived in the same house. The pair would spend time together and ever since, Messi has only had eyes on one woman- Antonella.
The childhood sweethearts began dating in 2008 and initially kept their relationship very private. The couple became man and wife on the 30th of June 2017 after 9 years of dating and presumably a lifetime of knowing each other. Messi and Roccuzzo have three sons: Thiago (born 2012), Mateo (born 2015) and Ciro (born 2018).
Everlasting Love
Messi recently commented on Antonella’s post captioned “Ibiza Days” with a string of heart-eyes emojis, a true fanboy of his wife! Messi is seen commenting on almost all pictures of his wife. The love is still strong after all the years of togetherness. Indeed a power couple in the world of sport.
Messi is currently on national duty with Argentina fighting for his first international trophy. The Copa America which is currently going on in Brazil has seen Argentina lose their first game 2-0 against Colombia.
Argentina face Paraguay next and Antonella will surely be rooting for her husband and country to bounce back from their defeat and claim their first victory in this year’s edition of the Copa America.
