Arsenal are rumored to sign young Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba for a transfer fee of £27m.

The 18-year-old has caught eyes of major clubs with impressive performances last season with his club, displaying immense calm and composure at the back.

These rumors have further gotten corroboration with a close friend of Saliba assuring that he shall be moving to the Emirates on a personal Instagram message.

The friend, who his followed by Saliba on Instagram, claimed that Saliba will be joining Arsenal .

When asked if Saliba would coming to Arsenal, he responded (in French) by saying: “Yes, but nobody knows it yet”.

His arrival would likely help solve Arsenal’s defensive issues which had gotten into the limelight for all the wrong reasons last season with poor performances at big stages.

With an ageing and unreliable defensive lineup, Arsenal need all the help that they can if they are to challenge for a top 4 finish.

Unai Emery’s rebuilding project at Arsenal last season saw a significant focus towards developing young talent.

Matteo Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles were the two players who came up to the ranks of the first team and impressed at the big stages. So there will be high hopes for the youngster to excel under Emery.
