It’s an all-important match against one of the top teams in the Championship. Your team is leading by a fine one-goal margin as the opposition makes one last surge towards the goal with less than 3 minutes left on the clock. What time-wasting technique would you use to kill precious seconds off of the game and secure your team a victory?
Will it be Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous step-overs near the corner flag against Arsenal? Or the good old dropping down with cramps?
Well, our pick for today is the Luton star, Pelly Ruddock’s ballet with the ball in the Championship tie against Derby County.
The win against Derby saw Hatters record a seven-match unbeaten streak stretching back to last season. It has been a positive start to the Championship campaign for Nathan Jones’ side.
However, Luton had to work for it against the Rams, with a late winner from Clark being enough in what was a nervy end to the game. Deep into the 6 minutes of added time, the Hatters conceded a corner after another.
With the home side under pressure, midfielder Pelly Ruddock resorted to one of the most hilarious time-wasting episodes we’ve seen in football. After conceding the corner, the 27-year-old picked up the ball and took it away from the corner flag.
And, just as two of the Derby players were about to snatch the ball off of him, Ruddock showed his skills with the ball in his hands as he swirled around the men from Derby County in a hysterical fashion.
Needless to say, the referee awarded his little ballet with a well deserved yellow card.
