Watch: Unai Simon applauds after Jorginho hop comes out on top

Jorginho sends Unai Simon in the wrong direction to win Italy's semi final game against Spain

Unai Simon just couldn’t help but applaud as Jorginho scored a highly unconventional but mighty effective penalty to send Italy through to the finals of the European Championship.

It was sheer arrogance and pure audacity from the Chelsea star as his devilish hop before the shot took the Bilbao stopper out of the equation before the ball was even struck.

The reaction that followed from the Spain goalkeeper after realizing that he was thoroughly beaten summed up the ice-cold nature of the penalty Jorginho had just executed.

Italy came out winners in the penalty shootout after Federico Chiesa’s curler was cancelled out by Alvaro Morata during a gruelling 120 minutes of football at the Wembley Stadium.

The Azzurri showed nerves of steel to navigate through extra time and penalties as Spain turned up with their best display of the tournament, only to be let down by their inefficiency in front of the goal.

Though, Italy deserved all the luck that came their way through as they showed the kind of resolve which is required to win a big tournament

Roberto Mancini’s men will either face England or Denmark in the final, and the former Manchester City boss will hope his star midfielder is as composed again as he was while taking this decisive penalty.
