The most awkward moment of Pep Guardiola’s interview after Southampton draw

Manchester City dropped points in the Premier League after what seems like ages against Southampton.

The Manchester Blues had to settle for a 1-1 draw due to a spirited performance by the home side.

The Saints were especially impressive in the first half, and eventually found the back of the net through Kyle Walker-Peters.

City, in drastic contrast to their usual nature, merely hung on at times during the period.

The second half brought along a much-needed change for the Cityzens and they managed to grab an equalizer through Aymeric Laporte.

With a spring in their step, they pushed on for a winner in the final 30 minutes of the game but were unable to find it.

In the end, they dropped 2 points, albeit in a title race that looks all but secure.

Manager Pep Guardiola didn’t seem too bothered with his side’s performance on the night however and instead showered praise on it, perhaps sarcastically.

It all occurred in a rather awkward post-match interview conducted by Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davidson.

In the interview, the Spaniard firstly declared his side’s performance on the day as “one of the best of the season”.

Naturally, and bemused Davidson asked – “Really, that good?”

“You thought it was one of the best performances of the season?”

Pep, with his eyes glaring at the reporter, leans into the mic and really emphasizes his stance, saying – “By far”.

The Spaniard is known for being a passionate figure and one who often doesn’t mince words, so it’s likely that he meant it.

Nonetheless, some fans online seemed to think that Pep indeed looked to be fuming, and perhaps downplayed his emotions.
