2 ways Nike tried to hide Lionel Messi’s Adidas shoes during PSG kit launch

PSG has recently collaborated with Nike’s Jordan Brand to release their fourth kit of the season. The new jersey will be worn by both the men’s and women’s teams for the second half of this season.

With the 2021/22 season witnessing the club wear a Jordan brand home shirt, this new release is a complete contrast.

The white jersey with blue-and-red trim has been inspired by the uniforms of the Chicago Bulls, where legend Michael Jordan most of his career. Chicago Bull’s iconic diamond motif will be present in the new shorts.

The kit was released on Thursday over social media, with a campaign that features PSG stars from the men’s and women’s teams. Among the players is the Argentine superstar and Paris’ new king, Lionel Messi.

What was odd in the photoshoot was Messi’s boots being hidden in diverse ways.

Keeping the boots out of sight was a creative move from the photographers. The former Barcelona star has an ongoing contract with Adidas and was forced to wear it to the shoot. However, his boots were strategically kept hidden from the final picture.

In one instance, the boot was hidden with a rectangular grey square with the message “Jordan Paris Saint-Germain Spring 22”.

Messi had begun his career with Nike, as he had marked his debut with Barcelona. In 2006, Adidas signed him, after reportedly doubling what Nike had offered in the first place.

The Nike’s Jordan Brand x PSG fourth kit is available now on the Nike website for Nike members only. A wider collection including an Air Jordan 1 Mid will be released on February 15.
