Moment Chinese K-Pop Idol Jackson Wang Comes to Erik Ten Hag’s Rescue

Manchester United under Erik ten Hag were in action yesterday for all to see, against historic rivals Liverpool no less.

Despite being a pre-season fixture, a tie against the Reds is always a stern test, and United managed to fare pretty well.

The tireless work put in by the Dutchman and his players during pre-season was evident on the pitch, as they ran riot and recorded a convincing 4-0 victory. The high-profile friendly was organized in Bangkok and dubbed ‘The Bangkok Century Cup’, a one-off game with silverware up for grabs.

While pre-season trophies aren’t exactly sought after, United fans, who’ve been starved for success, were nonetheless happy to lift the cup. Ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes stepped up to the stage to receive the title, and the proceedings soon took a peculiar turn.

As seen in this clip, the Dutchman and Fernandes pose with the trophy, before an individual enters the scene and proceeds to stroke Ten Hag’s head.

The individual in question is Chinese K-Pop Sensation Jackson Wang, who’s also a member of the popular GOT7 band. The artist was a special performer for the occasion and was clearly present for the presentation ceremony.

Going by the clip, Wang reached out to simply rub off the confetti that was sticking to Ten Hag’s head, but fans online had already crafted their own theories.

A popular one stated that perhaps the urge to touch the Dutchman’s lustrous top overcame the singer, a sentiment that United fans appeared to share, especially after his team’s impressive showing.

Pre-season has proved to be unpredictable in the past, and Ten Hag getting his head touched showcases just how bizarre things can get.
