Arsenal Women recently made the long trip down to Amsterdam, for the second leg of their UWCL qualification tie against Ajax.
As per UEFA’s tweaks to the format, out of the total 16, only 4 sides will receive entry into the group stage, the rest are to play out qualifiers and earn their spot.
Ajax and Arsenal, both of whom secured 2nd-placed league finishes Last season, were pitted against each other with the CL spot in the balance.
The first leg at Meadow Park saw a 2-2 draw, meaning both sides had all to play for in the Netherlands.
After a competitive 90 minutes, the second leg finished 1-0 in Arsenal’s favour, thanks to a solitary goal by Vivianne Miedema.
The game featured plenty of talking points, including a controversy surrounding the goal-post dimensions at the venue.
Furthermore, the Gunners’ bench was left fuming after being denied an emergency sub, leading to a very animated Jonas Eidevall on the touchline.
Fortunately for the Swede, his anger turned into elation at the end, and he celebrated with a loud roar which had Gooners’ grinning online.
However, some of the Arsenal faithful looked on with unease, as Eidevall bore a striking resemblance to the infamous AFTV figure, Mr DT.
For the uninitiated, Liam Goodenough aka Mr DT was a popular part of AFTV’s colourful cast of characters.
Known for explicit rants and being stern ‘WengerOut’, DT earned plenty of internet fame and even founded his own Football Club DTFC.
However, beyond the thick chin strap and stash laid dark secrets, all of which surfaced earlier this year and landed DT in jail on charges such as kidnapping and stalking.
Naturally, Arsenal fans have been distancing themselves from him ever since.
And upon seeing the Women’s side’s manager rock the DT look, many eyebrows were left upright.
Similarities included a dark tracksuit (DT’s trademark), eerily similar facial hair, a black baseball cap, and even a familiar display of passion.
What really cements the comparison is the side profile, when placed side by side it’s honestly tricky to differentiate between the two.
Needless to say, this is an extremely undesirable comparison, and hopefully, the Arsenal gaffer will switch up his look for the upcoming game against Reading.
