Fans Notice How Miserable Bruno Guimaraes Looked In Dressing Room Photo Post Carabao Cup Win

The Carabao Cup tie between Newcastle United and Crystal Palace was a hard-fought battle for both teams.

Each side went back and forth trying to get the better of their defences but neither were able to put numbers up on the score sheet in normal and additional time, resulting in a penalty shootout.

The shootout started brilliantly for the Magpies due to Chris Wood’s perfect spot kick, sending the Palace keeper Johnstone the wrong way.

Thanks to Nick Pope’s two impeccable saves from the first 4 penalties, Bruno Guimaraes had the opportunity to seal the victory for his team with his spot-kick.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the midfielder as he overshot the ball and missed the target after a never-seen-before runup.

Despite his miss, Newcastle progressed through to the Round of 16 as Pope saved the last Palace penalty.

Although his miss didn’t cost his team the victory, Bruno was visibly upset, as seen in the dressing room photos after the match. It was clear that he was not happy with his performance despite Newcastle winning the game.

The dressing room photo of him being unhappy with his performance went viral on Twitter and fans noticed the Brazilian’s actions and praised his attitude and mentality.

He received showers of love and uplifting messages from the Geordies.

Him being sad in the photos shows that he cares deeply about the club and his performance. The fans also commented that he will come back stronger in the team’s next tie against Chelsea

The 24-year-old midfielder also took to social media to apologize to his teammates and the supporters for what was the first penalty miss of his professional career.

He said how hard he works and strives to not make any errors but acknowledged that mistakes happen and that’s part of football. More importantly, he reassured the fans that he will keep training hard to not minimize these types of mistakes.

In his apology post, he also praised the heroic performance displayed by goalkeeper Nick Pope in the penalty shootout against Palace and said that he’s one of the best keepers in the Premier League.

His teammates were quick to send messages of support for the midfielder encouraging him that he will be back stronger.

Newcastle are enjoying a stellar start to the season and are currently sitting 3rd in the Premier League table. What’s more impressive is that they have only conceded 11 goals in 14 league games, and hold the best defensive record this season.

Bruno Guimaraes has contributed 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 PL games and will certainly play an integral role in the club’s success this season.
