Fabrizio Romano Confirms £4m Everton Deal For Nigerian Winger Who ‘Snaked’ Them Six Months Ago

The Toffees are currently in talks with Villarreal to secure the services of Dutch winger Arnaut Danjuma on a season-long loan deal, for a reported fee of £4 million as per BBC Sport.

This potential move marks a significant twist in Arnaut Danjuma’s transfer saga, as he previously turned down Everton’s advances in favor of joining Tottenham Hotspur six months ago.

The 26-year-old winger has had an eventful career journey thus far, and the prospect of him donning the blue jersey at Goodison Park is creating waves of excitement among Everton fans.

Danjuma showcased his potential with Villarreal following his £21 million move from Bournemouth two years ago but struggled for consistent game time and failed to complete a full 90 minute during enduring a challenging period with Tottenham Hotspur last season.

In terms of statistics, Danjuma’s impressive performances in La Liga and the Champions League for Villarreal indicate his goal-scoring prowess and ability to thrive in top-tier competitions.

During the 2021/22 season, Danjuma registered an impressive 16 goals in all competitions, just one shy of his tally during his Championship days with Bournemouth. His versatility as a left-winger, ability to play on the right flank, and adaptability to the center-forward position make him a valuable addition to Everton’s attacking options.

Everton’s struggles in the 2022/23 season, narrowly avoiding relegation by finishing 17th in the Premier League, highlighted the urgent need for strengthening their forward line.

With only Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the sole senior striker at the club, the Toffees have been actively scouting potential signings like Wilfred Gnonto from Leeds United and Brian Brobbey from Ajax. Danjuma’s arrival would add depth and firepower to their attacking arsenal.

The potential reunion between Arnaut Danjuma and Everton who previously showed a keen interest in the winger during the January transfer window under Frank Lampard, could mark a turning point in the player’s career.

Sean Dyche’s admiration for Danjuma’s skill set and the club’s persistence in pursuing the Dutchman despite the previous setback demonstrates their confidence in his abilities.

As Everton anticipates Danjuma’s medical, the fans’ reception might be mixed, considering the disappointment from his earlier decision to join Tottenham.

However, once the winger starts demonstrating his potential on the pitch, the Merseyside faithful are likely to embrace him with open arms.
