When He’s On The Ball: Arsenal Fans Unveil Catchy Martin Odegaard Chant Set to ‘Chase The Sun’

Martin Odegaard has been an inspired captain for Arsenal over the last season and his superb start to the 2023/24 season has convinced fans to create a brand new chant for him inspired by an 2002 Dance/Electronic smash hit.

The Norwegian midfielder has thrived under the responsibility of being the Arsenal captain and had an amazing season to help them compete in the Premier League title race last season. Odegaard was one of the best-performing midfielders in the league, scoring 15 goals and providing 7 assists in the division last season.

He’s had a pretty solid start to this campaign as well, scoring two goals in five appearances to help the Gunners win four of their first five games. Odegaard is reportedly in line to receive a new contract extension at the club, with Mikel Arteta & co eager to tie him down to a long-term deal.

Odegaard has also become a major favourite among the Arsenal fans, be it those watching on TV or the match going ones. His ability to lead the attacking moves for his side and often come up with that clutch goal or assist has convinced many that he’s the ideal long-term replacement for Mesut Ozil that they had been looking for so long.

Amid this, some Arsenal supporters appear to have created a brand new chant for their captain. This seemingly debuted in the Gunners’ recent 1-0 win over Everton after the September international break – with fans bellowing it on the metro and at Goodison Park as well.

The lyrics for the latest Martin Odegaard chant goes something like this: “Been dreaming all day, of our number eight, Martin Odegaard. Oi, oi, oi! When he’s on the ball, he’s f***ing magical, Martin Odegaard. Oi, oi, oi!”

Arsenal fans sang this in unison during and after the Everton game was over to ensure that their captain was well aware of its existence. Odegaard even got to hear the chant properly after the game was over as he made his way to the away Arsenal supporters. He even looked to love it, gesturing his admiration for all the support that the fans show him.

You can’t really blame Odegaard for being delighted with this chant, because of how addictive it is as well. The chant is sung to tune of ‘Chase the Sun, a majestive track on the album ‘Non Zero Sumness’ by Italian electronic music group Planet Funk.

This chant already appears to be a really popular one among Arsenal fans, who are loving life under the captaincy of the Norwegian midfielder. Despite receiving all the love, Odegaard should be focused on ensuring that Arsenal maintain their winning momentum for months to come and can end the campaign with some major silverware.
