Rangers Gossip: Colombian Talisman on the Horizon and Ally McCoist’s Bold Claim

Rangers are aware of their need for incredible winning consistency for them to oust Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title heading into the second half of the 2023/24 season.

The Gers are five points behind the league leaders, but have a game in hand and need to keep pushing to derail their rivals’ hopes and clinch the title over them.

Philippe Clement has been able to make some interesting transfers in the 2024 winter transfer window, having signed Portuguese forward Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves for the rest of the season to add more goals to their squad.

They have also roped in a new young midfielder Mohamed Diomande to add more energy and workforce into the middle of the park.

With that being said, it doesn’t seem like Rangers are exactly done with their transfer business in the winter window.

That is because they also seem to be on the cusp of adding yet another forward to add more spark to their frontline and improve their ability to dominate games until the end of the season.

According to journalist Adriano Savalli, the Gers are poised to complete the loan signing of RC Lens winger Oscar Cortes.

The 20-year-old Colombian winger is apparently already in Scotland to undergo his medical and his transfer is now poised to be completed. Rangers have reportedly agreed on a loan move with an option to buy him permanently in the summer window.

In Cortes, the Gers are getting a rapid, incisive winger who has scored four goals and provided two assists for Lens this season. He also made his debut for Colombia last year and has gained a reputation for his trickery and clever work in the final third.

As Rangers seem ready to welcome their third signing of the winter window, one of their inspired summer transfers from last year is still making club legend Ally McCoist go gaga.

Jack Butland has really impressed McCoist with his performances after keeping a whopping 18 clean sheets in all competitions for the Gers.

McCoist was recently asked in a Talksport Bet show about which players he feels rank among best signings of the 2023/24 season and made a stunning claim, saying: “What other options have I got really? Jack Butland! I’m throwing Jack Butland into the equation.”

Well, this is definitely huge praise from McCoist – who seems to regard Butland’s signing as high as the likes of West Ham United’s signing of Mohammed Kudus and Liverpool’s acquisition of Dominik Szoboszlai.

Butland will hope to retain the club legend’s faith by continuing to secure more clean sheets and help Rangers end the season in dominant fashion.
