FPL Latest: Trent Alexander-Arnold is Now Scaring Fantasy Managers with a Shadow of Doubt before the Merseyside Derby

FPL, FPL Defenders, Liverpool, Trent Alexander-Arnold

The no.66 shirt has been quite crucial for the Reds in the last few years and a regular feature in the Merseyside Derby as well. While Goodison Park is getting decked up to welcome Liverpool with renewed interest as the Toffees are managing to put some resistance under their OG coach, David Moyes lately, Trent Alexander-Arnold could well be far from the madding crowd.

The 26-year-old attacking full-back felt some discomfort during the 70th-minute of the Bournemouth match and himself asked his boss to get replaced immediately. We have discussed earlier in detail about his injury doubt in the double gameweek 25 and felt that the two cup games in between will give him the necessary breather.

He didn’t appear in the Liverpool masterclass against a struggling Spurs in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, where Arnold’s teammates cruised past Ange Postecoglou’s side by a 4-0 margin (4-1 on aggregate). Also, the England international was not involved in the shock FA Cup fourth-round exit to Championship’s last boy, Plymouth Argyle.

However, his muscle injury, which happens to be in the thigh region, has not fully-cured yet and may keep him out of action from the upcoming Merseyside Derby, which is going to be the last at the historic Goodison Park. TAA is owned by almost 33% of the fantasy teams and because of consecutive double gameweeks, his price has shot up to £7.4m.

Arnold is one of the most proven assets in the game and has 1 goal, 6 assists alongside 9 clean sheets in the Fantasy Premier League 2024-25. It would be a serious blow for his managers in fantasy if he doesn’t make it to the high-voltage clash this Thursday. He is in red-hot form right now, having scalped 22pts from the last three gameweeks.

Arne Slot has signalled in his pre-match press conference that he will be taking a late call on Arnold so far as the right-back’s participation in the final match of double gameweek 24 is concerned. “Trent has done parts of a training session with us so let’s see how he is today. He will train hopefully with us again and then we have to decide if we take him to the game, yes or no.”, the Dutchman stated.

However, even if he goes on to miss the Everton match, I expect TAA to make amends in the double gameweek 25, where he will have a plum fixture against Wolves along with a trip to the Villa Park.
