Liverpool Hero Mohamed Salah Pressures UEFA to Address Gaza Crisis

Liverpool, Mohamed Salah, UEFA

Throughout history, many of the best footballers in the world and in the Premier League have played at some point for the English club Liverpool FC. Among them are Michael Owen, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2001 while playing for the club, Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard, Luis Suárez, Jamie Carragher, Kevin Keegan, and many others. This has allowed the club to become one of England’s most iconic clubs. Currently, Liverpool FC is considered by many to be the best team in England, and this is due to the quality of the current players on the team, the tactics employed by Arne Slot, and also the love the squad has for the team.

One of them is Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah, one of the best footballers in the world and in the history of the Premier League, and also Liverpool FC’s most important player. Since joining the team in 2017, Salah has proven his quality is unmatched, and that he deserves to be at the same table as legends like Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, and Wayne Rooney.

Salah has not only proven himself to be one of the greatest footballers of modern times, but he has also proven himself to be an excellent person, as he has always been deeply involved in charity and humanitarian aid in his home country of Egypt. And not only in Egypt, as he has also been closely following what is happening in Gaza. A few years ago, the Egyptian donated $1.5 million to Gaza to help them through the difficult times they were experiencing, and continue to experience. In addition, he stated that the massacres in Gaza must end and that humanitarian aid must be allowed into the area.

A few days ago, Salah once again spoke out on the subject of the Gaza War following the death of Suleiman al-Obeid, nicknamed the “Palestinian Pelé.” Suleiman sadly died along with other civilians after being shot by Israeli forces in Gaza while waiting for humanitarian aid. After the news broke, UEFA published a post on Twitter (now X) honoring the former footballer. Salah responded to this post by asking: “Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?”

Salah would do this as a form of criticism towards UEFA since they do not explain how Suleiman died or who killed him. Following this, UEFA has decided to begin new partnerships with humanitarian organizations to help the children of Gaza. These organizations will provide medical care, food, educational kits, and much more to the children.

Some people argue that UEFA’s decision was due to Mohamed Salah’s tweet.

There are many people who criticize UEFA for not speaking openly about the issue of Gaza and Israel when it is already a topic that practically everyone is familiar with, or for simply not speaking out or opposing the genocide.

In that regard, Salah’s tweet seems to have had an impact, which has to be considered.
