FPL Price Changes GW2: Which Players Gained and Lost Value

Fantasy Premier League

Transfers are flowing in left and right with many managers unhappy about their Gameweek 1 selections. The price changes are already reflecting the early season narratives and knee jerk reactions. Today, we’ve seen one player rise in value while a substantial amount of players have dropped in price.

A lot of these are differential picks that many managers went for.

Malen has dropped from £5.5m to £5.4m: The Dutchman had a brilliant pre season but was dropped for McGinn, he was the only sub that Unai Emery made against Newcastle and with a disappointing attack maybe Malen could be in line for a start. Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey moving to Roma and Newcastle respectively also reduces his competition for minutes. Maybe managers should keep faith in Malen.

Marmoush has dropped from £8.5m to £8.4m: He had a brilliant second half of the season and with Grealish on loan to Everton his only competition is Doku who did start against Wolves, it is his fear of minutes that makes him a very risky option. He also commands a very high price tag and with how tight the budget is this year and with so many good midfield options, it is not a surprise he is being sold.

Claudio Echeverri has dropped from £5.5m to £5.4m: Another Manchester City asset Claudio Echeverri is being sold, news broke yesterday that he would be moving to Bayer Leverkusen on a one year loan without an option to buy according to Florian Plettenberg.

Isak has dropped from £10.5m to £10.4m: It is a surprise that many managers even picked Isak in the first place, his situation with Newcastle is at a standstill and not to mention he has barely had any pre season training. This looks like it will go on till a solution is found between the 3 parties, but even then with other players having come upto speed and already playing matches, it will be a while before the Swede features for either Newcastle/Liverpool.

Tel has dropped from £6.5m to £6.4m and Solanke has dropped from £7.5m to £7.4m: The two Spurs attackers Tel and Solanke are also being sold. Mathys Tel costing the same as Richarlison at £6.5m now dropping by 0.1 after the price changes, it seems like managers went for a straight swap after the Brazilian’s brilliant brace. Solanke at £7.4m is a minutes risk and other alternatives emerging such as Chris Wood, Sesko and Joao Pedro at that price point being much better value maybe the reason for managers losing faith in him.

Ballard has risen to £4.6m from £4.5m: There was only one price rise today, this can only be called a knee jerk reaction. Ballard the Sunderland defender is now being transferred by over 300,000 managers. Managers saw his 17 pointer and decided that he was a must buy, now it must be said he is a defender for a newly promoted side and yes they did win their first fixture 3-0 against West Ham but there is a very low probability of him scoring and keeping a clean sheet every week. The next fixture being Burnley is great however he is not a great long term purchase in my opinion, wait for a couple of weeks until they play the likes of your Palace and Brentford before making any conclusions.
