FPL Twitter Reacts To Joao Pedro’s Monster Haul During West Ham Win

Chelsea dealt a hammer blow to West Ham, beating them 5-1 at their home ground. Despite a spectacular early goal, Chelsea’s new-look attack spearheaded by João Pedro, overwhelmed a disorganised Hammers’ defence.

Surprisingly Enzo Maresca had announced a lineup with both Liam Delap and Joao Pedro alongside Palmer who was later withdrawn due to a groin injury. Suggesting that Maresca was planning on playing Joao Pedro in the number 10 with Palmer at right wing even before Palmer’s injury.

The Brazilian was the man of the match, scoring a goal and providing two assists. He particularly exploited West Ham’s weak defending at corners, heading in a goal himself and setting up another for Chalobah from a corner kick. He also delivered a perfect cross for Pedro Neto, who slotted it in with ease.

The Brazilian punished owners who sold him after his disappointing display against Crystal Palace with a 15 pointer last night. Joao Pedro was a template pick by many experts after a very impressive pre season and he showed that promise tonight. A little bit of patience is always required in FPL and last night the Brazilian demonstrated that.

What sets Joao Pedro apart from the rest is his ability to play multiple positions such as left wing, Number 10 and as a Number 9. Everyone knows what Chelsea are capable on doing in attack, with a solid midfield of Enzo and Caicedo it gives the attackers freedom to be more expressive and take risks.

Joao Pedro for £7.5m offers an easy route to the Chelsea defence, we will have to see how he fares in the upcoming matches. West Ham were also beaten 3-0 by Sunderland last week. Could this be a one week brilliance or has Maresca found a new position for Joao Pedro in the number 10 role?
