Mohammed Kudus joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer for a transfer fee of £55m. This was a very large sum considering the poor last season he had for West Ham. He scored just 5 goals and got 4 assists, racking up just 106 points from a FPL perspective.
This led to his FPL price tag being £6.5m (currently £6.6m due to price changes) for the season, many found that to be a reasonable price considering how last season went, he retained the same price tag as last year despite him playing for a much better team. However he started the season off with a 10 pointer racking up 2 assists and registering 0.58 xA in his debut match against Burnley. One manager who pulled the wildcard trigger in Gameweek 3 is happy with his performances “Got him in gw3 WC and he is staying on my team”
He then proceeded to have 3 blanks in a row until he hauled again getting 2 assists against Brighton in his latest match. Even though he had blanked against West Ham his former side, he managed to get 0.58 xGI. Kudus is a sort of an inconsistent player in that regard, he can blank 2 weeks in a row but then come up with a massive haul after his drought. One Manager would comment saying “xG this and that. He’s pretty much offered the points that Salah has until now, at less than half the price.” This is true as Kudus has only 5 points less despite not being the penalty taker, we also have factor in that he is still settling down and getting to grips with his new environment.
This has led to many fans wondering if he’s underpriced over overpriced, as we have seen this season cheap midfielders are outscoring premium midfielders, a topic i discussed. There are many good options at this price range such as Ndiaye, Mitoma, Barnes, Rice, Iwobi. The major consensus between fans is, that he is underpriced. With FPL managers telling others to keep it to themselves as Kudus is a great differential at higher ranks with many top managers not going for him on a Wildcard “Don’t tell the engaged managers about him” “Shush Don’t give it away”
Kudus feels like incredible value at £6.6m 😍

Very tempted to get him into my team on Wildcard. pic.twitter.com/ElToYhTP0P
The reason Kudus had a underwhelming season is due to his positioning, West Ham were bare bones in attack last year with Kudus often been forced to play in multiple positions and last year the attack majorly focused on Bowen who had to play at striker due to injuries. This season under Thomas Frank, he is being played permanently at RW due to an injury to Kulusevski who is out till the end of the year. One Manager would confirm this thought saying- “He feels safe for minutes and i fully expect him to play 80-90 mins until kulu returns from injury”
The signing of Simons has also helped bring creativity in midfield and Kudus is always getting into good attacking positions. Spurs have a great fixture run up until Gameweek 10, with Wolves and Leeds in their next two. Kudus is a direct, powerful dribbler with a high shot volume, traits that translate well into FPL points.
He is certainly a great player to own for these fixtures, but longer term is something we will have to wait and see especially with midweek European Fixtures to kick in soon. In my opinion it is a good idea to have him for these fixtures until AFCON begins and then switch to another midfielder.
