Erling Haaland is in the form of his life. The Man City superstar netted a low shot against Brentford to secure a 1-0 win for his team and maintain pressure on the top four.
The striker has scored nine goals in seven games for City in the Premier League, three in two games in the Champions League, and six in two games for Norway — including a five-goal haul against Moldova.
However, the Norwegian international dropped a bomb after the match during the post-match interview, which is the subject of today’s discussion.
Haaland credited his newborn son as the inspiration and motivation for him to keep performing to the best of his level.
“You can be physically ready but you need to be mentally ready as well,” Haaland said. “And to be honest, with a kid, it makes me even better because I actually disconnect more than ever.
Although Haaland has a substantial fan following on social media, with 38 million Instagram followers, the former Dortmund striker seems to keep his personal life away from the distractions of social media, instead opting to post his memories with City.
However, in October 2024, Haaland had teased that he was going to be a father for the first time with his girlfriend Isabel Haugseng Johansen.

In December, however, Pep Guardiola inadvertently revealed that Haaland had indeed become a father. The Man City manager told reporters, “Sometimes Erling has been judged badly but it’s part of football. He’s tired, he’s played a lot of minutes. He’s become a father for the first time in the last few days, a lot of emotions and an exciting few days for him.”
Although this news hadn’t cropped up everywhere on the Internet, this was a minor slip. Haaland has now publicly admitted to being a dad. The incoming maturity and responsbility on the 25-year-old’s shoulders are going to be huge. But for the 6’5″ giant, he surely knows how to keep his private life away from the eyes of the media.
While the idea of him being a dad was drip-fed to us, fans now finally have the closure.

“I don’t think of football at all, which sometimes, when you are younger, you think of this and that. You worry a little bit about things. But when I go home, I relax even more. I think I need to give a shout-out to my son.”
