Look: Ruben Amorim Gains Instant Aura After 3 Back To Back PL Wins

Manchester United, Ruben Amorim

It has taken Manchester United an unbelievable one year and eight months to finally win 3 Premier League games in a row. The last time when they manged to achieve this feat was in February of 2024 under Ruben Amorim’s predecessor, the Dutchman, Erik Ten Hag.

After Ten Hag was relieved off his duties, and when the news broke out that Amorim was the leading candidate to become his successor, the red side of Manchester went blooming. They felt they were finally getting someone at the helm who could play an attractive brand of football and also simultaneously bring the winning culture back at the club.

He was held in high regard because of his stint at Sporting and what he had achieved there. But to their dismay, it soon went downhill when they had a disastrous 24/25 Premier League season, finishing 15th in the table. The worst in their history. To make things more worse, they even lost the 24/25 Europa League final, 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur, in Bilbao, in what could have been their only chance to salvage their abysmal season by winning a silverware and also qualifying for the Champions League as a result.

Fast forward to this 25/26 season, pressure started to mount after an early Carabao Cup elimination against League Two side Grimsby Town and a lacklustre league start, with the well-known murmurs of dissatisfaction resounding across the Stretford End. Despite his stellar record at Sporting, Amorim was rapidly discovering the harsh reality of the Old Trafford hot seat, and the pursuit of stability and success felt as far away as ever.

Earlier during the season, Amorim was having a mulish approach in his pressers and with some of his words. For example, after the defeat in the Manchester derby in September this year, he was asked by the reporters whether the formation which he was using was a problem and whether it needed to change to get results. He completely debunked that question by saying:

“I won’t change my philosophy, if they (United hierarchy) want it changed, you can change the man”.

“I am not going to change my philosophy. I will play my way until I want to change. Guys, I understand (the questions) and I accept it is not a record you should have at Man United (after having just 8 wins in 31 games). But there are a lot of things that you have no idea about what happened in the last months”.

“I understand everything. It is normal (if fans are losing faith), but I don’t accept that we are not doing better. We are doing better and the results don’t show that, the record says everything, I understand”. [ESPN]

He also went as far as saying that: “Not even the Pope could persuade me to change”. [BBC]

The comments were made after a tough period for the team, which included the derby loss, a prior Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town, and a visit from minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe. But with time and perseverance, things do change in football.

Now, the pivotal moment arrives. The rising spirit of Ruben Amorim right now is at the centre of the supreme uprise that has taken place at Manchester United in less than a week.

In addition to the Red Devils moving up the table, three straight Premier League wins—a 2-0 win against Sunderland, a massive 2-1 victory away at bitter rivals Liverpool, and a convincing 4-2 defeat of Brighton—have drastically changed the public’s opinion. All of this without a change in the formation, too. Ruben Amorim is at the wheel, ladies and gents!

In particular, the victory at Anfield sent a strong statement. Going away to Liverpool, to face their fiercest rivals, and securing all three points—often a graveyard for United in recent years in the Premier League—showed a tactical acumen and mental toughness that had been noticeably lacking. It was a performance built on grit and solidity.

They had a very tipsy-turvy form before hitting this gear of 3 wins in a row. On the opening day of the 2025 Premier League season, they lost 1-0 to current league leaders, Arsenal. Although, the performance from United doesn’t do much justice on the result, sometimes football can be harsh.

Then came a shocking defeat in the round two of the Carabao Cup where they lost to league two side Grimsby Town on penalties. The match ended in a 2-2 draw before the game was headed into penalties where they lost 12-11. The Manchester United fans at this point thought that they were going to see a miserable repeat of the 2024/25 season again, so soon that it was just the month of August.

And a trip away to the Etihad for the Manchester derby looked like it could get actually worse this season again. Later, came the Brentford game at the Gtech Community Stadium, where they lost again, 3-1. This game, in particular, looked like it could have been, or even was, the final nail in the coffin of his Manchester United tenure for the Portuguese as fan pressure was already high from the previous results and from the trauma of last season.

The fans, for obvious reasons, wouldn’t have wanted this season to be a replica of the last, as it was the feeling at the time.

But, there are stories in football where, within one week, the tables do take a turn. And, that is what is exactly happening not only with Manchester United and their fans, but also with Ruben Amorim currently. In the post below, Amorim can be seen in a joyous mood after putting in a string of 3 wins in a row, with the latest 4-2 win coming against Brighton & Hove Albion, at home (Old Trafford), last weekend.

Amorim can be seen in all smiles, in a completely different aura. Leaning out of the driver’s window of his luxurious dark Porsche, Amorim was captured mid-selfie, wearing a pair of distinctive dark-framed goggles, giving a swaggering look and a black Adidas jacket with the brand’s classic logo visible on the chest. It looks like Amorim happened to meet these fans in Carrington, where, the Trafford Training Centre, Manchester United’s training ground, is situated.

The players seem revitalised, the mood is lifted and their performances show that they are beginning to comprehend to Amorim’s demands. The attacking intent is evident and movements are more fluid. The stadium atmosphere reflects this revitalised attitude, and fans are finally getting a taste of the aggressive, front-foot game they have long asked for.

For Ruben Amorim, after three emphatic wins, that “aura” is now shining brighter than ever, illustrating a path forward for Manchester United that, for the first time in a long time, feels genuinely exciting. Whether it will be a winning run for some time to come or if they will be back to their form like at the season’s start, remains to be seen.
