Why Liverpool and Everton Fans Are Both Wrong About Scouse Rapper EsDeeKid

Everton, Famous Football Fans, Liverpool, Merseyside Derby

EsDeeKid is a UK rapper whose anonymity has turned him into one of the UK’s most talked about new artist recently. After being one of the year’s breakout stars in 2024, he released his debut project, Rebel, earlier this year.

With a thick Scouse accent and a clear nod to cloud-rap, he has just surpassed 9 Million monthly listeners on Spotify and holds the record for the rap album with the most daily streams in the entire world.

The rapper went viral due to his mysterious identity, something that remains a mystery to this day. Eagle eyed fans online had a bizarre theory of how the rapper could be actor Timothee Chalamet.

Although they have similar builds and almost identical eyes, it’s funny to imagine the French-American actor being behind that famous balaclava while having a Scouse accent.

Fans’ initial speculation of his potential Irish or Scottish origins were later scrapped when the rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) himself and revealed, “I’m Scouse til death”. On his song “4 Raws”, the rapper quoted, “I was raised in Liverpool slums, lad”, revealing where he originates from. Fans quickly wondered exactly which part of Merseyside his allegiances lie in, and the answer might shock you!

Blue Cartel or Red Cartel? Mystery revealed

The mystery was solved after fans dug into his discography and noticed one of the lyrics in his song “Tartan”, which said, “Pop these pill, come blue like Everton”.

A lyric from the song ‘Tartan’ suggesting EsDeeKid is an Everton supporter

However, more evidence came to light after fans dug even deeper into more of his music where yet another lyric revealed their initial conclusion was completely false. The lyric “Manage this sh*t like Jurgen”, suggested he was a Liverpool fan.

A post from August 15, 2024, on his alternate Instagram account (@councilhouserat) further justified his allegiances to the reigning Premier League champions which featured a pair of the famous Liver bird, the emblem of Liverpool Football Club.

The debate was thought to be settled after another big blow was landed to the Toffees when EsDeeKid reposted a TikTok edit of Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch before commenting on Hugo Ekitike’s post.

However, this may or may not be a coincidence since both of these posts featured EsDeeKid’s own songs.

In the end, it marked another win for the Reds as the internet reached a conclusion that the rapper is officially a Liverpool supporter, or so we thought!

It was later revealed that the rapper in fact does not support either of these teams since he’s not a big fan of football. Both sides were left confused after this shocking fact came to light.

Some fans claimed that even though he is not too keen on watching football, as he prefers watching UFC instead, he has a soft corner towards Liverpool due to his multiple mentions of the club across his social media.
