For the Champions League game against Inter Milan during the midweek, Mohamed Salah was axed by Arne Slot from the matchday squad that flew to Milan.
He was omitted from the squad after his bombshell interview following the 3-3 draw at Elland Road last Saturday in which he claimed he had been “thrown under the bus” by Slot and that his relationship with the Dutch boss has been broken down.
Salah went full guns blazing in the interview and said:
“I’m very, very disappointed to be fair. “I have done so much for this club down the years and especially last season. Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why”.
“It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame. I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I’m on the bench for three games, so I can’t say they kept their promises”.
“I don’t know why this is happening to me. I don’t get it. I think if this was somewhere else, every club would protect its player. How I see it now is like you throw [myself] under the bus because he is the problem in the team now.
“But I don’t think I am the problem. I have done so much for this club. The respect I want to get. I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position because I earned it. I am not bigger than anyone, but I earned my position.”
“I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden, we don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club.”

Following that, Salah was photographed dining with former teammate and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson at the Italian restaurant Scalini in Central London on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, the pair had a detailed talk for around 90 minutes, sparking significant speculation about the meeting’s purpose and Salah’s future plans.

Speculations from fans immediately started to kick in that the “Egyptian King” could be looking for a move away from England in the January transfer window, specifically Saudi Arabia.
It happens to be so because, Henderson, who captained Liverpool during one of the club’s most successful modern eras, played in the Saudi Pro League for Al-Ettifaq.
There could be a possibility of Henderson to have shared insights into his own experiences about the Middle-Eastern country and may have given Salah an outside perspective on what could come next.
According to initial reports, Salah listened closely and questioned Henderson about many areas of his professional trajectory, however neither party has officially remarked on the conversation’s context.
And with the 250-goal star’s future in doubt, rumours over a move to the Middle East will now seem to be even more significant.
Even earlier during the Premier League 25/26 season when Liverpool visited the Gtech Community Stadium, Henderson and Salah were seen locking on to each other and whispering in each other’s ears.

Liverpool fans also acknowledged Henderson’s leadership abilities and how he could be the right person to guide Salah on the right track.
With the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] looming, Salah is set to join Egypt’s squad, potentially affording a temporary break from current club issues and controversies that have sparked.
However, the fundamental troubles at Anfield and the implications of his public rage will remain even after he comes back from AFCON, despite speculations involving his future away from Merseyside.
The London meeting with Henderson has added fuel to transfer speculation, including interest from Saudi clubs and teams abroad, where Salah might explore a new chapter if a reunion with Liverpool proves difficult.
For now, fans and pundits alike will be waiting eagerly for the conclusion of Slot’s meeting with Salah which is set to happen soon and the repercussions of his recent conversation with Henderson.
Twitter users reacted as they saw the duo together:
@GibsoonCorp: He’s trying to advice him to join Saudi pro league.
@greybtc: Probably asking Henderson how Saudi is
@liverheart: Probably discussing his experience in the Saudi league!
@1bittool: Giving him the insight into the Saudi League?. Great Football Player has spat with Club. Fans have say, media have say. Story and episode being dragged out for almost a week. Reality, sometimes there are more important things in life to concentrate
@AA94LFC: Hendo was a proper captain. Still being a captain to Salah. Love to see it.
@Nutrition1974: Shows how much respect Henderson commanded when he was Liverpool captain. Not sure what Van Dyjk will think of this, but IMO he is nowhere near as good a club captain Henderson was. Hendo & Milner’s departures left a big void in the club
@teekay_xi: proper captain Hendo. 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️
@saf_usman: If there’s one person you can rely on giving Mo some level headed advice, it’s his ex captain Hendo.
@Saviour4877: Proper captains him and Gerrad while Van Djk is doing buddy buddy with his country man slot.
