John Cena recently played his last WWE game and has been receiving retirement wishes from fans around the world. But a symbolic and unique tribute arrived unexpectedly from the north of Liverpool.
Saturday was the last time John Cena fought in WWE, an event he announced at the Money in the Bank event in 2024. The Saturday night main event was anticipated as never before, marking the end of 17-times world champion but perhaps the childhood hero of everyone from the 2010s generation.
As a fitting bow down to the icon, the Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, played his entrance theme.
Liverpool played Brighton & Hove Albion at home on Saturday and were leading by a goal at half time.
During the break, the Anfield DJ had to make the crowd engaging and his strategy to make a mark was to play the iconic John Cena song “The time is Now” which caught everybody in the stands with surprise and some would have surely had a tear shed from their eyes.
The song was an ever lasting mainstay in the childhood for a lot of fans who were born between the 2000-2010 era. It was first released on March 17, 2005 and had been the entrance theme for John Cena’s wrestling duties ever since then.

Cena’s connection with the city of Liverpool dates back to 2023 when he arrived for the filming of his Amazon Prime film “Heads of state” and also had a viral video where he attempts to imitate Scouse accent.
The more recent visit for the Liverpool “Comic Con” also saw him visit the “Metquarter” coffe shop where the shop manager filmed a video along with him.

Liverpool fans are saddened by the retirement news as some of them drew this parallel to Salah’s last match at Anfield following the inconclusive communication dispute between his manager Arne Slot and him.
Salah cryptically mentioned that he would pay his good byes to the Anfield crowd before moving across continents for national duties.

@Roopaljuneja
I’m not ready to say goodbye to either of them
@thewoke4ive
his last game and he ain’t even playing 90 mins bruh
@mizethat My stomach is actually in knots thinking about today being Salah‘s last game for Liverpool. Please God no.
@M1Keeper
It may be the last game for the Egyptian King Mo Salah with Liverpool
Thank you King for carrying the club for the previous 9 years
Forever you will remain the Great King & the EPL Legend
❤️🇪🇬👑
But I hope you continue your journey
@capvirgvl
tl full of salah’s last game tweets i cant take this no more bruh
deserves a proper send off with us, it will gut me if he leaves now 🙏
@Super__Cyan
Personally don’t think so, but if they do get rid of him in January, reassessing my relationship with this club fr.
The current situation is favouring an immediate sale but is not conclusive. There have been sources suggesting that Slot and salah will speak about the further season commitments. But everything can be determined only after Salah returns after finishing the AFCON.
