Manchester United, both on and off the field, has been a circus ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
In 2025, the fallen giants have become a joke, with manager Ruben Amorim at the forefront of it, causing drama both on and off the pitch.
In his latest stunt, he has been making enemies behind the scenes with his treatment of academy players.
Manchester United is a club that has traditionally been all about promoting youth. In fact, MUFC have had a homegrown player in every matchday squad since 1937, a record that stretches over 88 years and exceeds 4,300 consecutive games.
Ruben Amorim has taken a different approach from his predecessors and strayed away from picking academy players, leaving many fans wondering if he’ll break that record.
Speaking to the press over the weekend, Amorim was questioned over his use of academy players like Kobbie Mainoo.
The Manchester United boss had this to say as he defended his stance over not featuring academy players more prominently:
“Of course [I rate him]. But in the end it’s going to be the training, the games. Of course he’s not playing so many games, but Kobbie has had opportunities, especially last year. Everyone has.”
Moreover, in a bid to defend his actions, he also targeted academy players Harry Amass and Chido Obi-Martin, who were sent on loan in search of regular gametime.
“[Harry] Amass is now struggling in Championship. Chido [Obi] is not always a starter in under 21. All these guys played when a lot of people were saying sack the manager. So you can see I’m not worried. I just want to win and if he’s the right guy, I will put him in.”
Contrary to what Amorim claimed, the young defender has been a success at Sheffield Wednesday.

The youngster has now hit back at his gaffer with proof as he took to social media and posted a photo of himself holding the club’s Player of the Month award for November.

Manchester United fans, who are already having a troubled time because of the club’s performances, were fuming at Amorim and the drama happening at the club.
@UnitedProp_: We’re the best club in the world when it comes to internal drama.
@sportsnympho: Ruben Amorim in his first press confe at united stated that he will never throw his players under the bus,he is really the opposite and im disappointed, underplaying the quality of young players for selfish reason,he has a big ego and I really used to think he was a likeable guy
@NnamahR65076: Amorim just exposed himself that he doesn’t have what it takes to be ManUtd Manager. Scholes was right afterall, he doesn’t understand the club philosophy of youth promotion. How could he not know of the exploits of Harry Amass in SW, pathetic man. Pity United are in this shit
@s_dot____: no other club like it
completely justified from the players though, one of the maddest double standards is managers being allowed to lie on their names and call them out publicly but players not being allowed to respond
@mingsman1: it is expected when ur the worst manager the club has ever employed and we have braindead idiots somehow defending the clown in charge justifying everything he does cuz he can do no wrong
@byeelando: has there ever been more division between the manager and everyone other?
@Unitedbrain_1: Man I swaer i love man united drama always lmao we haven’t even kicked a ball and some mfs are ready to kill amrion while amrion fans are ready to lay down their liivs to defend him. No in-between full left vs full right
@utdmiz99: Just a normal day as a United fan
@lancezzoo: This gaffer is really dumb he should learn to talk well because its gonna create huge wars outside and inside the clubs. I have never seen this situation before its probably the worst so far. You can see amorim still young and naive about this as manager lol
@WHEEZZY2010: He literally caused it? He absolutely have no reason to expose the youngsters like that, no reason at all. A shit manager who loves to create drama to shy away from accountability. A pathetic loser
@fawaztherager: because the gaffer is a stupid prick that doesn’t know when to shut up.
@Challo1981: It’s embarrassing as a United fan.
@sammyomari254: Under Amorim academy players are going 2 struggle 4 playing time, since he came he’s not given any academy player a debut & those he found in the 1st team from the academy he’s chasing them away, if it was ten haag he would have already given chance 2 the youth players
@CikeBelowCover: It’s getting really toxic, surely the club have to pull the plug soon
@Mufc_Andrew7: I can’t believe im seeing people siding with Amorim on this, it’s honestly crazy.
@bzmn10: Very very concerning time for this club. Shambles.
@MUAgendaFreeFan: we are a mess mate, total mess. #GlazersOut.
@UtdDyl: And it all stems from the gaffer.
@zirkwood_: A completely avoidable situation incited by the managers needless comments
@stephenRB4: Amorim should know the definition of the word ‘struggling’ given his management performances since he joined MUFC.
@Dazinho_11: He is literally one of the best fullbacks in the championship this season so far. Idk what amorin is yapping about. Surely man utd fans want amorin out no?
As with everything Manchester United, fans were divided on this topic as well. For all the fans criticizing Amorim for his comments, some were backing the manager amid the drama and telling fans to stop being Player FC.
Chido Obi and Amass are openly dissing the manager, and this fanbase is actually cheering them on.

The same people who talk about standards and environment, by the way…
They hated Garnacho for acting like this but now because they hate the manager, they’re completely okay with…
@UTDYoda_: already telling us that chido has a shit mentality, just because he is great at academy level thinking he can do it in the prem when he given a chance and still couldn’t perform
@KMssterr: Chido Obi is a clown if this is true. Rashford for all his flaws impressed when Van Gaal gave him a chance. Obi played a lot of first team football last season and I saw he ain’t shit. Didn’t show anything.
@CMUFC28: Rooney was a senior player these are young players who aren’t even playing for us right now, it wasn’t necessary
@Scoochie12: The fanbas cheers any drama that fits their current narrative manager out or manager in It has nothing to do with standards and everything to do with wanting validation for their own take
@nomzii001: Academy Players who were opportuned to even Wear the badge… Meanwhile the Likes of Yamal are proving week in week out those bums are beefing the first team manager not sure if they even make the Starting XI at academic level
@OnTheBallGames: Man United have the most toxic fan base in the world & getting them back into the top 4 will be impossible for any manager as none will be given the time to do it.
@futt1212: bruh this new fans are so soft they will happily defend any united player who still need to prove themselves over a manager and the audacity of these players to post on social media like they won a balon dor
