Mohamed Salah’s situation at Liverpool is the talk of the town in Premier League. The interview after the Leeds game revealed the gap between manager Arne Slot and Salah as he vented out his frustration having warmed the bench for three games in a row.
Several critics and pundits had their opinions with differences including Jamie Carragher who Salah was expecting to bad mouth him for his actions.
Paul Merson, former English footballer and a pundit for Sky Sports presently, showed his support for Salah during a tough time and said he could understand Salah’s frustration.
“I am on Mo Salah’s Side. People will go “Should he have done what he did?”. Maybe he should not have, but he is a human being. He is a top player, a legend. The figures he has put up on the wing, scoring goals and assists is off the charts. All he has said is he wants to play football. He has got the hump because he is not playing. How could you be slaughtered for that. I saw here on the deadline day, there were players who refused to play for their club and Salah’s getting slaughtered for this. There are other players who could have been dropped and he is probably sitting there thinking ” wait a minute, we are not very good and i am not playing. Why is he playing and him playing?”. You take away Mo Salah’s goals and assists, i don’t think there would be any trophies in Liverpool’s cabinet for a while”
Prior to the game against Brighton on Saturday, Merson had something even more to say about Salah but this time it was in a complete opposite direction.
Gathered on the Soccer Saturday show, Merson twisted the tale as to why Salah is so sluggish in his attitude and the way he walked into the dressing room before the game.
Other pundits joined him while Morrison defended Salah and did not want him to be criticized just for the way he walks.
“He’s not going to come off laughing or joking. Look, oh my god, has he missed a mortgage payment or something? That is ridiculous, you don’t want him around like that, you need to have a meeting and say Mo, everyone here looks up to you, don’t walk around like that, or don’t come in.”
“That’s not a normal walk or a normal look. There are kids there that look up to him, you don’t want to set that example. When he done his interview, that was in the moment. He was in the moment, he’s frustrated, he’s in the moment. This is not in the moment, this is a show up. He’s walking in there, he has the best job in the world, you don’t walk with your hands in your pockets, he’s walking like I did out of the betting shop when I’d done all my money.”
Morrison quickly defended “I can guarantee you every player wasn’t smiling. Because it’s Mo Salah, you’re making a big meal out of it.”
Tim Sherwood also accompanied Merson in Salah’s attitude gesture saying, “I wouldn’t want him to come in like that. You can’t look more miserable than he is, and in the dressing room it will be worse. Do you think he’ll be sitting on the bench wanting the team to win? I’ll put that out there? Do you think he wants Liverpool to win today? “

Salah the first ever footballer to be criticised for walking in a totally normal manner like the billions around the world also do https://t.co/3aauJRJIfj

This is hilarious man, like he’s really being criticised for walking like this but Merson was backing him with his situation lmao https://t.co/dAzPQ8CD2o

Cannot believe this aired i thought it was a parody. The hate filled commentary when there’s others his teammates included and Brighton players walking past hands in pockets is actually comical but it still infuriates me – so bizarre that this is acceptable “punditry” https://t.co/F1mIUv1OfS
