Footballers being active on social media is a common culture today. Some use it as promotional and marketing platform while others use it to show off their other side of life.

Let‘s take a look at how players reflected on their social media account last week.

Hugo Ekitike is a fan favourite. His Instagram profile is a classic Gen Z era user profile. He has two accounts with one covering his professional life with liverpool while the other often known as the “burner account” or “spam” uncovers the funny side of Ekitike.

Big Hekki posted another funny post after a commendable outing, scoring 2 goals against Brighton at home and helping Liverpool win consecutive games for the first time since September.

Fans enjoyed every bit of it as he shared fun intended posts such as “how to face low blocks”, revisiting one of his teammate, Andrew robertson’s old tweet from 2012.

Meanwhile at the Selhurst Park on Sunday, it seems City players had to deal with cold water for after game showers as Erling Haaland pulled the legs of the Eagles on his Snapchat account.

The Norwegian had put the Citizens ahead during the first half in the minute 41′ before Foden doubled the lead. Haaland did the formalities in the end by scoring a penalty to secure 3 points which leaves City just 2 points below the league leaders.

Erling Haaland is known for his Snapchat antics uploading funny photos and content of his teammates. He did not seem to have a problem having a cold shower after rattling them on the pitch as he wrote, “Thanks for a lovely cold shower Crystal palace” with a pinch of sarcasm for the negligence shown by Crystal Palace stadium staffs.

Nick Woltemade had a game to forget becoming the victim of blame in their high-octane derby against Sunderland. He scored an own goal for the Black Cats which Newcastle United were never able to overcome.

Woltemade could not fulfil his offensive duties too as Newcastle produced an xG of 0.25 with just 2 shots on target.

Woltemade had been receiving trolls and critics on social media but there were few people to support him during his tough time. Here’s how Woltemade reacted to the loss on his Instagram account –

“Derby days hit different. This one hurts a lot. Thanks for all the positive messages Geordies ⚫⚪”.

Fellow teammate, Anthony gordon also expressed his disappointment and promised a come back for the fans on Wednesday. He mentioned ” Totally underperformed today in a game that would have meant so much to everyone. We can only apologise, reset and try to make it right on Wednesday” .

Nottingham Forest players Omari Hutchinson, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Elliot Anderson, James McAtee and Morato came together under Gibbs-White’s Instagram post on pointing out the referee bias against their team.

Previously, they had registered a formal complaint to PGMOL on the one-sided refereeing in their game against Everton due to poor decision on Tarkowski’s foul off the ball, which Forest believe should have been a red card.

During the Tottenham game, referee Thomas Bramal, made a blunder, falsely calling out a corner kick as goal kick in favour of Spurs.

This raged the Nottingham players especially the involved Gibbs-White whose deflection led to the corner, rushed towards the referee questioning his decision.

Nevertheless, the Notts put 3 past Tottenham fighting their way out of the relegation zone. They are currently 16th in the table 5 points away from the relegation zone.

Jack Grealish put a perfect reply to a fan who tried mocking the Everton fans for supporting despite a 2-0 loss against Chelsea. The fan commented “keep crying” but would not have surely expected Jack grealish to come back in support for his team. He replied “Ben Shutup u sausage. ur irrelevant UTFT🫵💙”

Chelsea derailed the Everton run with a clinical 2-0 victory at home. Gusto starred with an assist to Cole Palmer in the first half before putting in the back of the net courtesy a Pedro Neto assist.

Chelsea’s blow put a stop gap to Everton’s top 5 race but Grealish was never out of his enthusiasm even going further to fighting with a fan in the comments of an Everton instagram post.

It is good to see, footballers leaving their shell life and being so active among the fans just like any other user.
