Truth About Leaked Barcelona 26/27 Senyera Kit Fans Are Obsessing Over

Barcelona, Football Kits, Nike

FC Barcelona are one of the two most famous clubs in the world along with their arch-rivals, Real Madrid.

With a strong fanbase that resonates with the beautiful football often called as ‘tiki-taka’, Barcelona could boast themselves as the most followed and supported football club in the world, with only their arch rivals, Real Madrid, leading them in digital presence.

This has reflected in their merchandising sales, with 24/25 revenue mounting up €170 million in return.

Yet, Barcelona have been reluctant in making a trademark kit that has been repeated across seasons.

Barcelona’s kit sponsor, sportwear giant Nike, have been producing their kits since 1998.

Their recent contract that extends till 2038, is set to bring Barcelona a massive revenue boost.

Yet, one of the intended limitation to their new arsenal of kits, has been the Senyera kit, featuring yellow and red stripes.

The club used the same Senyera kit released as the fourth kit in 2022/23 season for three seasons in a row.

However, they stopped its reusage for the ongoing 25/26 season, opting for a different fourth kit.

As much importance and tribute is associated with the Senyera kits, Nike or Barcelona have paid little attention to fine tuning it, featuring the same design for years now.

Though a new leak about their 26/27 season’s Senyera kit created some buzz for fans.

The yellow kit modeled by Lamine Yamal and Raphinha features red and blue intersection on the left side of the jersey with blade like edge finish.

Such a design has never been witnessed in a Barcelona Senyera kit before.

But, as it turns out, the leak was fan-made, with no official releases or sources confirming its origins.

A unique, visibly identifiable aspect of the Senyera kit is the four stripes of red across the yellow coloured jersey.

The leaked kit was evidently lacking the red coloured stripes on the body.

Also the usage of Navy Blue colour on the kit design was something new and unfamiliar, as only the sponsor name and the sleeve ends have been dyed with the blue colour in earlier Senyera kits of the club.

The jersey of Alejando Balde, during the 23-24 season which had the continuous use of Senyera kit from 22-23 season.

Another Senyera kit, featuring current Ballon d’Or winner and former Barca player Ousmane Dembele from the 21-22 season until when the Senyera kit from 2019-20 season was in continuous usage.

The Senyera kit draws inspiration from the Catalan flag of the city, symbolizing the culture and heritage of Barcelona.

It consists of yellow colour with four thick red stripes on the flag.

The first adoption of it came in the 2005 season, when the Senyera flag colours were introduced in the neck collars.

However a full Senyera kit, came in effect in the 2013-14 season, when Barcelona wore the away kit of red and yellow.

Although the leaked kit did not feature the stripes and was clearly made using AI, it did create a chance for the Catalunyan supporters for a forum to discuss the importance of the Senyera kits.
