Adidas Have Absolutely Cooked With This World Cup Away Kit Drop

2026 FIFA World Cup, Adidas, Football Kits

Recently, Adidas have heavily marketed the bulk release of their new away 2026 World Cup kits for all National Team partners. Here are the thoughts behind the designs and key important stories behind the nations.

Firstly, in each and every away jersey, Adidas have reverted back to their old Trefoil logo.

The designs are a set of 90’s inspired style. A retro style of street fashion which resonates deeply with the Adidas Trefoil logo, often used in Urban Street culture such as Skateboarding. Here are all the kits that were dropped, out of which 13 have qualified for the World Cup already.

Overall, the fan reaction online is in love with the new kits. It is safe to say Adidas’ design and marketing team have knocked it out of the park this year. Each country has a lovely design incorporated with their history and culture in such a way it blends and meshes together beautifully.

Messi’s last World Cup campaign?

Argentina’s new away kit has artistic blue swirls, a floral design of climbing plants. Perhaps this beautiful shirt can lead them to a 2nd World Cup in a row, the first to do so since Brazil in 1962.

They also hope to have a great send-off tournament for Lionel Messi, who very well might play his last World Cup this year. After initially retiring from International Football in 2018, he has had an inspirational return in white and blue.
Argentina cruised to a 1st place in the CONMEBOL qualifiers, 9 points ahead of 2nd place Ecuador. Having won the last 2 Copa Americas as well, they return as favorites for the World Cup again.

Japan’s Baseball heritage

The Japanese away kit features a Baseball uniform themed design, similar to their Baseball jersey in the World Baseball Classic. The inspiration of the rainbow lines is from “Colors beyond the Horizon”. 12 colors, 11 of which represent the players and the 12th represents the fans.

Japan had an amazing 2022 World Cup, defeating Germany and Spain, unexpectedly topping their group. They qualified for the World Cup in the 3rd round of AFC Qualifiers. They hope to acclaim similar success in the 2026 World Cup, as the beautiful game continues to become more popular in the Land of the Rising Sun.

It is also available in long sleeve like many other kits, although this one seems to be the best looking version out of all the long sleeves.

Germany’s last away kit with Adidas

Adidas revealed their last away kit for Germany, as they move suppliers to Nike for 2027. This dark blue design with teal stripes, based on Germany’s traditional training shirts. Florian Wirtz commented on the new away kit design.

“It’s unusual to see a Germany shirt in this colour, but it’s a really good one, I’m really looking forward to playing in it soon.”

Germany hope to have a better World Cup than the last 2, missing on the knockouts stage in both. After a promising 2024 Euros, where they made it to the semi finals, it seems they are on the right trajectory.

Curucao make their first World Cup

One of the best stories so far is that the Island Country Curucao made history and had an unbeaten CONCACAF Qualifiers campaign, becoming the smallest nation to qualify for the World Cup. Having been a colony of Netherlands, the national team is largely made up of Dutch players and coaches.

In celebration of their World Cup qualification, Adidas debuted this brilliant away kit for the nation.

Heads up on the UEFA Qualifiers

It’s also to note that the best football shirt designs amongst the collection might not have a chance to be at the World Cup.

Italy, Wales, Ukraine and Sweden are the remaining Adidas supplied teams in UEFA Qualifiers.
While Chile had failed to qualify in the CONMEBOL qualifiers.

The European Qualifiers are mainly the only ones yet to play out, the match ups are as follows:

All winners of their semi-finals make it to the Final of their respective paths. The winner of the Final in each path qualifies for the World Cup.

Italy especially hope to win their path. Despite winning the 2020 Euros, the nation hasn’t made the World Cup since 2014, and hasn’t won a knockout World Cup game since 2006, where they won.

While Wales is yet to qualify for the World Cup, their new jacket that is now also being sold with the replica jerseys has caught the eyes of many fans.

It’s not just the T-shirts that look nice, the long sleeves have captivated many across social media.

The new away kit collection from Adidas is a huge win for Football and Football fans alike. This will not only bring even more eyes on the World cup, but it also innovates in the designing field as away kits have usually been neglected heavily in the past. This is to hope that the change in Football design is for the better.
