Following the post-match coverage for FOX Sports for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, an internet user body-shamed Carli Lloyd by bringing up her pregnancy.
The incident began when the Fox Sports analyst and USWNT legend posted a fierce critique of U.S. Men’s National Team captain Christian Pulisic after the team’s 4-1 Round of 16 loss to Belgium.
After the match, she criticized the USMNT players stating they lacked hunger to win and played scared.
“It’s a bit of a downer for us being out here now after this loss, but I felt like they lost the game before they even stepped out onto the pitch,” Lloyd said following the game. “I’m not sure why, and I don’t know the reasons, but just from the beginning, just chasing, tentative, scared, just not confident on the ball. And I think big-time players — you wanted some of those big-time players to step up in big moments.”
She also argued that USMNT star Christian Pulisic had failed to deliver a single impactful performance throughout the tournament. Lloyd also took aim at Christian Pulisic, claiming the USMNT star underperformed for the entirety of the team’s World Cup campaign.
“I gotta be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Christian Pulisic,” she continued. “I think whether he wants to be the star of this team or not, we didn’t see enough from him in this particular game and really the whole World Cup. Little glimpses here and there.”
Later, when Pulisic mentioned in a post-game press conference that he was looking forward to finally resting his injured ankle, Lloyd doubled down on X with a ruthless reply: “You rest when your playing career is over. Period.”

Seeing this post of criticism on X, an X user replied in the comment section, writing: “Looks like you’ve been resting really good lately big mama,” by attacking her physical appearance.
Lloyd, 43, who is currently pregnant and expecting her second child with husband Brian Hollins, did not back down. She quickly quote-tweeted the user to shut down the body-shaming comment, “I can tell you are a gentleman. Do you always disrespect women? Does it make you feel good hiding behind your keyboard?”
