FC Barcelona enjoyed a solid 2025/26 season, winning two major trophies – LaLiga and the Supercopa de España.
Though there is plenty of world-class talent in their ranks already, the Spanish champions have not wasted any time resting on their laurels in the summer, acting aggressively in the transfer market in an effort to improve their squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
First, they signed England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for a total package of €80 million shortly before the FIFA World Cup began, before adding another pacey winger in the form of Karim Adeyemi, who was signed from Borussia Dortmund for a total package of €29 million.
On Thursday, the club posted a graphic to X, officially announcing Adeyemi’s arrival. The graphic featured the winger sprinting in a Barcelona kit, while a glimpse of a packed Spotify Camp Nou is visible in the blur behind him.
“Speed has a new address: Barcelona,” FC Barcelona posted.
Fans were thoroughly impressed by the quality of graphic.
The dynamic motion blur, sharp subject focus, atmospheric lighting, and Blaugrana color harmony created an explosive, cinematic matchday aesthetic.
“bonkers graphic, that’s beautiful,” one supporter shared.
“DAMN. Take some of Araujo’s wages and give the graphic designer a raise,” a fan wrote.
But all the positive internet points Barca had garnered with the aforementioned graphic were all wasted when they put out Another graphic a few hours later, which once again stayed on the theme of Adeyemi’s remarkable pace.
“Now you see him,” another one of Barcelona’s posts was captioned.
While this Dr. Strange inspired effort also looks quite polished on first glance, a closer look reveals that it has actually an AI generated image.
When zooming into the Barça kit that Adeyemi is wearing in this post, one can spot several details that don’t line up the shirt’s actual design. The shoulder area of the announcement post is slightly distorted and the blue and red colours of the kit mix with each other, while this is not the case in the official design.
Similar inconsistencies can be spotted in the bottom left corner of the image, where the stripes of the shirt look unnatural.
An AI detector tool gives the image a 99% chance of being AI generated, which all but confirms these allegations.
While the announcement posts may have divided opinion, most supporters are on the same page regarding the belief that Karim Adeyemi’s signing is one that holds a lot of promise.
Though one can argue his progress stalled slightly during the last few years in Dortmund, he is still only 24, and it will be exciting to see what he can accomplish for one of the best attacking teams in Europe, under the guidance of Hansi Flick who has developed a reputation for helping attacking players take their game to a new level.
