On July 8, the UK political landscape was rocked by the gruesome murder of former member of Parliament and reform spokeswoman Ann Widdecombe. According to investigations, an intruder entered her home in Devon, in an attempt to steal her bank cards and other valuable belongings.
Soon after, the suspect struck her 21 times on the head with a hammer, before fleeing the scene with her wallet. Widdecombe’s body was discovered by her gardener on her kitchen floor the following day.
In the aftermath of the violent crime, police have apprehended a suspect named Joshua Kerry. Aged 28 and hailing from Rotherham, Kerry has been charged with the murder and is currently under trial.
While no confirmed images of Joshua Kerry have yet been released to the public, an image which is reported to be his courtroom sketch has been doing the rounds on social media of late.
Since it was revealed, the image has naturally drawn a wide range of reactions. Several football fans on social media have also offered their take on the image, claiming that it share’s a striking resemblance with legendary Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard.

“Looks a bit like Frank Lampard with a beard/tache in that drawing,” another fan stated.
Staying on the same theme, a few other supporters claimed the photo resembled another former Premier League midfielder – Ilkay Gundogan, who spent eight seasons in England with Manchester City.
“That’s İlkay Gündoğan!” a fan claimed.
“İlkay Gündoğan should be fuming with this 😂,” another supporter commented.
Another user offered a subtle reminder to it easy with the conspiracy theories, sharing a courtroom sketch of Wayne Rooney from when he appeared in court to face a drink-driving hearing in 2017 to prove his point.

Kerry’s first court appearance took place on July 21, as he headed to at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and the Old Bailey on July 21, 2026, facing charges of murder.
As of now, he has not entered a plea, and he will remain remanded at the Belmarsh Prison in South-East London until his case-management hearing, which is scheduled for October 9. Following that, a provisional trial date has also been set for June 8, 2027.
